Very accommodating to special requests! Nice rooms. Beds are squishy soft like giant marshmallows. If you like that kind of thing it's perfect. If you like a firm bed do not stay here. Giving five stars even though I dislike soft beds, because everything else was great and they were quite nice, and the softness of the bed is probably what most people prefer anyway.
The staff is the best thing about this place.Now. The hotel is fine. I do like the offerings this place has. But the staff was always very very helpful and always so very friendly. I really appreciated them and their kindness. The hotel is in fairly good condition and the AC works pretty well. It’s convenient to almost everything.
The only reason it didn't rate a 5 star is because I feel customer appreciation has been lost in this hotel. They used to offer half price rooms for Sunday, continental breakfast, appetizers at happy hour, all gone. My husband went there for over 30 years during the Michigan Race and he saw a lot of changes. It used to be a family weekend for us until it got too expensive, then instead of 2 rooms he had to cut down to one and made it a guys weekend. Over the years he saw customer appreciation die and the almighty $ take over. If he had an issue the attitude he got was basically don't like it go elsewhere. As lovely of a hotel it is it's become an elite hotel for the well to do. We went back after covid and found it very expensive. It's lovely but they offer their guest no perks anymore.. Lovely rooms and very clean but I can get that at the Best Western for considerably less. The rooms don't get cleaned during your stay & I understand because of covid but in reality that saves them money because the cleaning staff doesn't have to do as much. I know everything is getting expensive but when you see the almighty $ take over and customer appreciation being lost, it's sad. It'll be a long time if ever we go back because it's just getting to be too rich for my blood. Kind of sad because we had so much fun at the Weber. It was always a bit pricey but it was justified with the perks you got, not anymore.
I “bought up” to the king hospitality room. The pros: it was very generous in size - two desks, sitting area. The cons: One of the reasons I paid $350 a night was because the room had the updated bathroom with Bluetooth. The Bluetooth mirror wouldn’t even turn on. No big deal. We can live without it. Then at 3:00 am there is a steady drip of water somewhere in the room and lasts all night long. Once the sun is up I see that the wall by the window is leaking and there is water pooled on the sill. Looking further I see that the wall paper is buckled and lifting from water damage. I go to check out and let the woman at the desk know. She was friendly with an “oh no sorry about that” - I couldn’t tell if she understood the extent of the issue so I let her know that it looks like it happens a lot because there is water damage on the wall. She says she will be sure to let maintenance know. At this point I’m fairly certain it was a known issue and we were allowed to spend that kind of money on the room regardless. TLDR: I spent $350 to not be able to sleep because of a leak and for a room that lacked some of the promised features. I shrugged off the Bluetooth not working but should have switched rooms then - may have avoided the water issue!
Check in clerk was friendly. The rooms were over priced but most of the group thought the hotel rooms were very nice. The main complaint I had was the staff not being rude. The Habitat bar staff was just horrible. We waited 15 minutes to have a server come to our table, regardless of having passed by numerous times with out even a head nod of acknowledgement. ( Lots of tables were open so not super busy on a Tuesday) Once orders were placed another 15-20 minutes to deliver them unless you ordered a soda which came rather quickly. Server never came back, tried to flag another but was completely ignored. Went to the bar to order drinks myself and the bartender was not friendly or accommodating at all. Some of our party sat at the bar and received the same rude, grunting, barely acknowledging them service. On a good note. The morning breakfast was wonderful and the staff was very pleasant. This made up for the rude service we received the night before.
5 star bathroom(miss the tub)and coat closet in bathroom. Ewww, why? Our room was small (King bed) and had 2 unmatched chairs, a desk and one side table. A little sparse. It felt more like a "business" traveler than a "boutique" room. You can only comfortably watch the TV if you're on the bed. There for our Anniversary so perhaps my expectations were too high. On site restaurant and separate bar a plus, but I think you could still make a profit if you included a "continental" breakfast and eliminating having to leave the site just to have breakfast for under $40.
I strongly recommend Webers for either a hotel stay or for a function. I recently had my parents’ 50th Anniversary party there. I live out of state. Webers was very easy to work with and I believe it was a great value for the service. Everyone I worked with from the Front Desk Staff to the Banquet Hall staff were phenomenal!!
Service was excellent, food was excellent, room was excellent, experience was excellent! I was not sure what to expect from a "Boutique" Hotel and I wasn't disappointed. I will recommend Weber's to others and find an excuse to stay there again.
As parents with college-age children, we have stayed at many hotels throughout the country (as well as previous travel internationally). I would say that Weber's is one of the best hotels we have stayed at. First and foremost, the people who work there. Without exception, everyone was warm and responsive. The fact that it is still family owned does seem to filter down to staff. Special 'shout- out' to Caroline, manager Hotel Manager. She was so sincere, professional, and attentive to any needs. Also to Ethan Berman at the front desk; his transparency, integrity and approach was a great initial interface and made an impression. I hope the family tradition remains and the hotel never goes 'corporate' I thought the room was great; comfortable and well-stocked. Irrespective of past comments, I thought the food in the restaurant was excellent as was the service. Again, Christina, who manages the restaurant and bar, area was great!! I also enjoyed the music. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant had a warm charm that you do not find in many hotels any longer. One small metric that I find mirrors a hotel's customer focus is the coffee :) As someone who enjoys a couple of cups of coffee to start the day, I would say the coffee here was rich full-bodied as were the offerings in the room. Some hotels provide weak, watered down coffee which is an obvious attempt to skimp. Some have complained of the 'run-down' condition in certain areas. I actually liked the interiors on the floors; kinda reminded me of 50's/60's Las Vegas; like I was at the Sands or Tropicana waiting to see Frank Sinatra lol. It is true that the doors to the rooms could use a fresh coat of paint. There is one Major hiccup that does need to be mentioned: The interior rooms on the 4 floors surround the pool and recreation area and the balconies face the area; we had a suite which actually had shared "outdoor" space with another room. The concept and design is beautiful. But in reality, the noise level can be very disturbing, totally understandable during the day (my kids were young once:) But there were two nights, in the middle of the night when the people sharing the balcony with us were playing a loud radio till early morning hours and dumped crushed chips all over. Another night, there was screaming in the middle of the night/early morning. The net effect, is the absence of a night's (2, actually) sleep and 2 subsequent lethargic/ tired days. The hotel is expensive;though otherwise worth it except when you cant enjoy it due to fatigue. To be fair, it really isn't about the hotel, more about the patrons. However, it really can so easily ameliorated if they hired a security person for the late evening/night shift. Also, a prominent note that is easily viewed reminding guests to be considerate of fellow guests and limit noise after whatever time deemed appropriate would be helpful. I have seen it in many hotels and usually abided to. Having mentioned this, what is my takeaway? This is a lovely hotel, good food and the kind of interpersonal culture that really works for us. The noise factor is something that can easily be rectified. I am looking forward to visiting again!
There really isn't a fair comparison to Weber's Inn anywhere near Ann Arbor. This property offers many features not found anywhere nearby ie; poolside rooms and suites (we stayed in the Spa Suite and it was very lovely) -- an onsite lounge with live music Thursday thru Saturday evenings -- an absolutely great restaurant with a menu and service to match and last but not least a super friendly and professional front desk staff headed up by Carolyn who's used every single day of her 30 yrs. experience working for Ken Weber and assuring a memorable experience by all the guests she has the pleasure of making feel welcomed and valued. Her staff is awesome as well. Bjorn, Tiffany and Robin were among those we had the pleasure of meeting and all were nothing short of remarkable in their friendly, courteous and sincere efforts to please. We'll be back soon! --K&J
