It might be ok for KBBQ but the Korean Army Stew was a flop ?...but if you're already going, GET THE FRIED CHICKEN with Soy Garlic sauce appetizer. That was it, fam ?? I wish I had just eaten that as my whole meal. I would have been happier.DINING EXPERIENCEThere was a 1hr 10min wait for a KBBQ table, so we opted to wait 20min just get a regular table for two people. The table we were seated at was awkwardly located with high chairs behind where I sat.Service was ok. Slow start.FOODThe Korean Army Stew was watery and lacked flavor. It was more a soup than a stew. My friend said it wasn't supposed to be like this. It was fun to watch it cook.We had some drinks, which was nice. Our appetizer, the Korean fried chicken with the soy garlic sauce though SLAPPED ❣️
Came here on the recommendation of a work colleague when I told him I was going to be in town. The food and Service were absolutely phenomenal I couldn’t have asked for a better lunch experience. The food was delicious. Great selection and the prices were very reasonable for the amount that you get.I will be coming back
Not the best Korean food Ann Arbor has to offer but the experience is very fun. Unfortunately if you look up at any point the ceiling fixtures are absolutely caked in dust and filth. The place was filthy and made it a lot harder to enjoy the food. Not bad, but not worth waiting an hour and a half for a table. If you want Korean, I recommend Kangs on South U instead. If you really want Korean bbq it’s serviceable.
Edit: 02/12/2022We finally got to eat at the barbecue side of Tomukun. I can say the it was delicious...We intended to have barbecues but we ended up in the noodle house and it was too late when we realized it. The noodles are not really that good in my opinion!
My wife ordered take out from here and it was the biggest rip off I have ever had. She spent $180 for 6 people and the food was terrible. The tofu was like it was scooped by an ice cream scoop and not nicely prepared in cubes. It tasted like butter and not tofu. The soups had almost no vegetables in them. There was NOT ONE side dish of kimchee or any vegetable. The kalbi meat must have been horse meat or dog; just horrible. The owners must be North Koreans to have serve such poor quality food and portions. Overpriced and poor quality.
The food was amazing. Full of flavor and tasted authentic. However, the service was VERY disappointing. The server never came back to check on us after serving our food. He also took forever to come back with our check and to-go containers once we were done with the meal. I would understand if they were busy, but that certainly wasn't the case here.To make things worse, they add a mandatory 18% gratuity to your check regardless of the number of people in a party. Highly disappointed with this dining experience.
Not good. This was our first and last time going. We had the marinated chicken and BBQ it. There was no flavor and it took forever to cook plus when some of the was done it was too wet and tasted like cheap chicken. We were the only people in the restaurant and the lady just wanted use to order. When we got our food she vanished and came back 30 minutes later and asked if we were done with our meal and ready to pay. I took what was left of the chicken and throw it in a trash can right outside of the restaurant. This was the first time at restaurant that I could not finished the food because it was so cheap and bland and a complete waste of 37 dollars.
Went to dinner with our college student son, and my husband picked the Korean BBQ this time. It was an excellent choice. The only downside was the waiting time, 45 min, but we had plenty to do in downtown Ann Arbor durng this time. The food and service was very good, good quality meats and very pleasant waiter. We ordered chadulbaegi / beef brisket and uangnyum galbi / marinated short ribs. They came with sides and rice and a salad. Very good experience overall.
I thought the food was kinda gross but that was probably my fault for not fully understanding what I was ordering. That's not why I am giving a one start review, our service was absolutely terrible waiting 20 minutes for our drink and then our waiter tipped himself on our bill. Will not go back.
I love this place… but can the owner do the world and favor and lower their prices… in comparison 3 years ago the combo pick 4 was 65$ now it’s 100$. And it hasn’t gone up that much, the rate at which the restaurant has inflated their price is beyond what the price of meat has grown. Please take into considerate how much more business you actually could have. Atleast find a middle ground. Simply look at the pictures of the menus in the pictures google has of the store and you can see the price of the menu increase over time. lower price to a moderate and reasonable level like they once were. Please
