Edit: The owner keeps using Covid as an excuse for everything bad about this restaurant, but it looks like every other Mexican restaurant in the area is back to normal staffing and service and is way better than this place. It's lame to keep beating a dead horse and deflecting his bad service with old news. Not like a normal mexican restaurant. Not like it used to be. It's understaffed and now you have to walk up to a window to order and pay. If you want a second beer you have to go stand in a line at the window. They sat us at a table that was sopping wet. The one overworked waitress in the place seemed annoyed that we asked for a towel to dry off the table. It's hard to know how to tip at a self-serve mexican restaurant that charges you for chips and doesn't include a side of beans and rice with your pricey entree. It will always do fine in a college town but there are way better places out there. Won't be back. Feel ripped off.
The host is very nice and welcoming to us. However we went order food and drinks, the guy behind the desk asked us for IDs, one of our friend showed him ID from Hong Kong (English) he rejected us and said “if you wanna leave, leave then” before we said anything. We’ve been in the states for 6 years and we never had issues using this ID anywhere else. We’re not sure if this staff ANTI ASIAN or what but please if you’re owner of this restaurant please talk to this staff ASAP because you’re losing so many customers because of this guy’s bad attitude.
delish food. great bartender
Whether having a great meal by yourself or would like a cozy atmosphere dining with friends…this spot works well! Delicious food rich in flavor which compliments the charming decor. Check out the ‘Mains’ menu, fantastic options. The Margarita Shrimp tacos were fabulous and will order again. Deliciously great food, full libations list, comfortable!4.75 ??I’m always somewhere and nowhere..follow me to see where I am not!Let me know if I’ve been helpful in your choice!?Look over menu for your price point, definitely try this place
I dined at this place and I will say it isn’t special. The food is alright, I will say the guacamole is probably one of the better ones I have had. However the main courses are just alright. I will say I think the staff is doing the best they can, they seem to be short handed, as so many places are these days. However they were knocking it out of the park when I was there. So if you think the food will be amazing, I doubt it. But still worth the try if you are in a pinch.
Myself and a family party of 8 had high hopes when trying Tios for the first time, to celebrate with a Birthday dinner. When we arrived, we were disappointed to find that there are no waitstaff involved with Tios system of “service”. Patrons are expected to approach a window and order through it like you’re at a 1950’s burger stand- not a terrible thing, but certainly not you have in mind for enjoying a “4.5 star” meal of Mexican Food For a party of 9. The methods to order for specific couples inside our party were not clear whatsoever, resulting in the staff having absolutely no idea who is on what bill. When asked, the “manager” at the window was extremely rude and instead of assisting our party, his response was “I’ve had larger parties here and never had a problem with them..” What service, right?? So you’ll understand when I completely disagree with their 4.5 star rating on google. To add insult to injury, our beverage order was screwed up and when attempting to correct it, a drink was spilled all over the table by a member of their staff. Do you think the manager would even attempt to offer to refund any portion of our appetizer bill to accommodate the problems… Nope. Not even an offer. I was rudely handed the bill, and to my surprise there was a tip request belo the subtotal.. for a “restaurant” that doesn’t even offer waitstaff to take your order! LOL NOT. Needless to say, if you have a traditional sit-down dinner planned, this is certainly not the place for you. That is unless you’d like to order your food through a window like you’re at McDonald’s, with the manners and respect for it’s patrons to match. Coming out of a pandemic, with businesses struggling, you’d think small independent restaurants would be willing to go the extra mile for business, but at Tios in Ann Arbor, you’d be wrong! Avoid this low rent attempt at an authentic Mexican restaurant at all costs! You can do much, much better elsewhere. 1-star. ⭐️??♂️
Food was very good and service was fast and friendly. Jeremy the owner chef came to our table and talked with us, as it was our 1st time and we had questions. He was very friendly and engaging, with a lot of pride in his restaurant. We will definitely be back.
Ordered on 3-2-22 at 11:45am for lunch. Was told about 40-45 mins for delivery. About 50 minutes later I called the restaurant to ask where was my order? The guy seemed confused after I repeated my name and some yelled in the background “A FEW MORE MINUTES delivery guy on his way.” After another 15 minute wait the delivery guy called and handed me COLD FOOD! I’ve ordered from Tios plenty of times and has NEVER experienced horrible service like this! I won’t be ordering again!
Absolutely perfect! The margaritas were awesome! The people are very nice as well! It is a great concept and the system works awesome!
I work in the hospital and we’ve regularly ordered from here which is normally “decent” food. After today I will no longer order from here. To start, I didn’t receive some of my order. Then to top it off they up-charged me because I asked for queso on the side. Instead of charging me the 3$ that I added for queso they charged me 8$ because I asked for it on the side. When I called Jeremy was extremely rude and spoke over me. He said they could come get the queso but as I said working in the hospital it’s hard enough to get away for a minute just to grab food. To top it off I and my coworker didn’t eat any of the food, it was completely cold and nasty. I will be disputing this if the amount doesn’t reflect the correct amount.
