We liked the renovation. The new menu is limited, but very good. I had the cobb salad with shrimp, It was excellent. My wife had fish tacos, she really liked them. My only complaint was the house martini. It was almost undrinkable. My 2nd martini was made with tito's and way less vermouth, it was perfect.
TRAIN WRECK! My daughter’s graduation two years delayed and what she wanted most was dinner with family friends at Sava’s. A fave for meals over her 4 years at Big Blue, we made reservations 4 months ago. Closed for remodeling we got a reservation for their “soft opening” tonight (May 7). Our experience…TERRIBLE! It is rare that I ever say this. I even went into the dinner knowing they were breaking in a new restaurant and my expectations were low. But, NOT THIS LOW. An hour and 30 minutes after ordering and NOTHING! And, they only offered 4 entrees and 2 salads (along with some appetizers). By design, it wasn’t even very busy. After 90 minutes we finally had to beg to get the pre-dinner salad which we asked them to split…after arguing with the “manager” they finally split the salad. After 2 hours the food came. Steak inedible because it was undercooked. Side dishes came 30 minutes before entrees, waitress disappeared halfway into the meal and so much more! Several tables got up and just left! Complained and asked for the owner. She was “too busy” to respond! Bar manager finally came over to present us with $450 bill which had items we returned, drinks we were told had been comped, and more. We asked those items be removed and they were. We understand re-opening nights (although Sava’s opened over a week ago) are going to struggle a bit but, this was insane. Recovery from our poor experience was weak and we will never go back…NOT EVER. This is sad because it was a fave for our whole fam and an experience we will long remember and share with others. MY ADVICE…DO NOT GO TO SAVA’s UNTIL-THEY WORK OUT THEIR DEFICIENCIES. THEY DON’T DESERVE YOUR BUSINESS…YET!
One of my favourite brunch spots in Ann Arbor - but be sure to make a reservation! Their rotating cocktails are one of my favourite pieces of the menu; there is always a range of options in flavour profile, and I always learn something new or about a drink component I'd never heard of. The bartenders and staff are incredibly and intimately knowledgeable of their entire drink and food menu.
Please bring back the mushroom bolognese/gemelli pasta for the reopening!!! It’s my absolute favorite and I will be so sad without it. Or give me the recipe ? also love the bang bang shrimp & autumn in New York cocktail! Amazing food and beautiful ambiance ?
Great customer service...5 stars! Always love the ambience of the bar to the coziness of the restaurant. Food-wise tonight was 4 stars. Felt a bit pricey for what we ate... with 21+% tip, it was roughly $270 for 5 people. 4 cocktails, 3 apps, 5 entrees.A few people had the Sava's wagyu burger with the garlic shoe string fries. The burger was "nothing special" taste-wise and a bit on the dry side. It was ok. Fries though were good. The sauce for the burgers tasted like a tartar sauce.Chicken panino sandwich with the garlic fries and the penne rigata pasta were both the winners on entrees tonight. Pasta was flavorful and ingredients worked well together between the bits of ground beef, broccoli raab (aka the stem) and mushrooms. However, the sauce on this dish is watery...I would've thickened it a little, so that it sticks to the noodles. The gemelli pasta dish was a mushroom bolognese sauce topped with two dollops of ricotta cheese but texture was more like a whipped sour cream. This dish needed a touch of salt or something. One person described it as more of a pasta with a thick marinara sauce or tomato paste. Not a fan.We started with an appetizer round of sweet potato fries, roasted brussel sprouts, and the bang bang shrimp, all of which were excellent! Cocktails too!Still love this place... will be back! ❤
Always love this place, service is always great and food never lets me down. We went for brunch this time and it was very good. Breakfast tacos were delicious. Dinner is equally great, had Brussel sprouts and the carrot and pepper dip to start, Greek salad with chicken and mushroom Bolognese. The pasta and carrot dip are tremendous.
CHORIZO MAC N CHEESE ??? MY FAV PASTA IN THE WORLD!
Overall we were disappointed. Fifty dollars for 3 dishes, and no beverages. The gemelli with mushroom bolognese was good, but only lukewarm, and heavy on the pepper (nothing in the ingredient list screamed spicy, so must be pepper). Burrata dish was good, portions appropriate. The fattoush was not great. We assumed (shame on us) there would be greens in there somewhere. It was mostly a bowl of farro, with a tiny sprinkling of finely diced veggies and maybe a tablespoon of chopped pita chips. Not enough dressing to even discern its flavor. One can order protein to top the salad, but it should be able to stand on its own; and could not. The atmosphere was nice, and the service was good. We had much higher expectations for the food, though.
6 stars out of 5 This place is so amazing!! The ambiance, service and food are to die for. I love the menu and it’s uniqueness simplicity Would like to go there as a regular
Overcooked, ove-rsalted ham omlette and frozen pumpkin bread plus boxed shells and cheese with shrimp. All for over $40. Gorgeous, spacious, light and airy spacious andd nice waitstaff, but just save yourself time and money and go to Zingermans.
