Laid back atmosphere with dynamite Mexican food!

Service and cocktails were great but we were disappointed with the overall quality and quantity of food for the price. We used to love isalitas when we lived in Ann Arbor in 2016, we recently moved back to the area and unfortunately this one won’t be staying on our favorites list.We had the truffle guacamole which was, admittedly, the best part of the meal, queso fundito with chorizo which used to be our fav was a VERY small portion with almost no chorizo. We also had the carnitas (oddly greasy), the cauliflower tacos (under roasted and too much smoked paprika), and the Al pastor - pork belly was an interesting take but we weren’t overly impressed.

The food was good, but it wasn't anything to write home about. I felt that each dish was missing one or two elements that would have led to them really standing out. Additionally, some components of dishes actively made the dining experience more difficult. The tortillas served with the queso fundido are a bit too small, and I felt that one or two more would be a welcome addition. The service was acceptable, and it wasn't bad in any particular way. However I would have appreciated if it was slightly more attentive. But then again maybe this goes a bit against their upscale street food ethos.

Good food, watered down drinks! The day we went for dinner there was only one bartender for the entire restaurant, so my drink arrived after I finished my food(~1hr from order). The food was good and they have good vegetarian options as well!I would go back when it's not busy and they get their bar situation sorted.

great tacos and margaritas

Seems to be the only non-overrated restaurant in Ann Arbor. Not amazing but overall an enjoyable environment to sit in on a weekend night, the best I've experienced so far in AA. Service is very good. Draws a comely crowd as well.

With the pandemic still raging in Michigan and several young kids at home, we do a lot of takeout, I mean A LOT. Isalita, without a doubt is my absolute favorite takeout in all of Ann Arbor. I almost always get the chicken enchiladas (pictured). The flavor is spectacular, unlike any I’ve ever had. We also frequent the nachos (also pictured) and the guacamole is a must-get every time. Our kids enjoy the chicken tacos (sauce on the side). Once covid numbers die down in Michigan (and/or warm weather) I can’t wait to eat there in person. Thanks to the staff and chefs for always making our dinner enjoyable.

Waitress was very friendly, food was very small portions inspired by Mexican street vendors. My friend’s tacos were bland but mine were alright. Vibe is nice.

Some very tasty food, from appetizers to main courses. I also tried out quite a few tequilas with a friend and we had a great time going through the available options. Towards the end of the evening I asked the bartender for something that could go toe-to-toe with our favorite tequila of the evening, and they definitely came through.

I'm pretty disappointed in the Baja tacos. The mahi was way overcooked and dry as a bone, and the toppings were sparse. It seems like they were cooked a few days back and then reheated. What a bummer.
