Good food and great beer selection
Food was delicious!!!! Can’t wait to go back.
Besides great tasting food, SERVICE was EXCELLENT!! Unfortunately my family and I don’t recall our server’s name, but we do know it was Monday late evening (between 9:30pm & 11:00pm) she was middle height, short dark hair with highlights, blue eyes AND VERY friendly!
I decided to try HopCat tonight for dinner after looking over their delicious looking menu items; so I ordered the smash burgers via DoorDash. Honestly, my expectations were a bittersweet experience to sum it up. I was pleasantly pleased with their compostable packaging & the fries. The burger I ordered was the B.Y.O. Smash burger w/American cheese & added bacon strips. The other burger had Gouda cheese w/bacon & fries. Everything was perfect on the outside of my burger, until I bit into it. Unfortunately, it was pink throughout. I ended up developing a horrible stomachache after eating half of the sandwich so I trashed my remaining portion. At this point I was feeling like I had wasted $45 ($16.35) on yet another takeout meal. As far as I know the other burger was ok…the person I was treating to a late night dinner didn’t have any complaints of their sandwich.
My college kids dragged us here, saying the burgers are amazing. They are ok at best, fries are average. They are doing amazing business, so what do I know.
Delicious fries and burgers. The pretzel nugs were perfectly salty with just a hint of sweet. The Mac and cheese was a bit of a small portion but still very tasty.
BEST tomato soup. The fries are addicting. The grilled cheese had apple on it!Lots of stuff to look at, even more drinks to try. Plenty on draft, signature cocktails and really good food. We tried the loaded fries and grilled cheese with tomato soup. And a couple drinks ?
Nice restaurant and bar. It's very big and cozy inside with fancy paintings on the wall. They have a great selection of (craft) beers on tap and in bottles. It's nice but the beers are also expensive.
After a day at Pinball Pete's and the University of Michigan Museum of Art, we headed for HopCat a few blocks away. The pub atmosphere wasn't overdone so it was fine with a 6-year-old in tow. Their beer menu is impressive and they offer three-beer flights, so you don't have to make an immediate choice. There were plenty of food offerings. My Killer Mac N Cheese lived up to the name in a good way. My grandson's burger and fries disappeared quickly. Our server was helpful, friendly and always approaching us with the smile of someone who enjoys her job. The next time we're up visiting, I'm going to suggest another trip to the HopCat.
Drove up to Ann Arbor for lunch and dined in the heart of downtown. Relaxed atmosphere, plenty of dining space with a large bar in middle of restaurant (parking garage conveniently located across street). I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich with onion and apple slices; tasteful combo and their fries are perfectly seasoned. Attentive and friendly service; wide variety food and beverage menu. Will be back! #goblue
