Visited for the first time this past Saturday night. Surprisingly it wasn't at all crowded. We sat at the bar for drinks only. Not only were we served great tasting drinks, but received an education through great conversation with our boat tender. I forget his name but remember he used to work in Aspen years ago. Nonetheless, it was a great outing with friends at the Black Pearl and we'll definitely return.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Ann Arbor, and normally the food is very tasty. But this evening one of the dishes was a little disappointing. The linguine with shrimp had only some tiny pieces of chopped shrimp mixed in with the pasta—barely detectable. It reminded me of that old Wendy’s “Where’s the Beef!??” commercial. I think for $26, it wouldn’t hurt the chef to put a few nice shrimp on top of the linguine. Hopefully this is a one off, as we really like the Black Pearl.
Great experience here and the food was delicious! My boyfriend and I got the salmon and scallop dishes and both were excellent. The vibes here were great and the servers were very kind and welcoming.

We had very delicious food! I had only been there for happy hour in the past (and the fish tacos are amazing). This time we split the seafood curry soup--yum--so much flavor! We also had the butternut squash-kale salmon with salmon that was lovely. The goat cheese dressing was just right and the salmon was cooked perfectly. The outdoor igloo was fun and felt safer than being indoors right now.
Took my girlfriend here for our anniversary a few weeks ago. This place was incredible and the service was great even on a busy Saturday night. We’ll definitely be back to order the best fish tacos we’ve ever had
I don't think I have EVER had a better fish taco....The staff is competent, pleasant and eager to make it an amazing mealOwner is responsive, charming and willing to take care of his clients.Classy and fun with amazing food and cocktails. We recommend the Black Pearl to all of our out of townies AND local folks.Check it out for the holidays. Perfect place to get together outside in your own 6 person igloos! Enjoy!!
Our go-to spot downtown! Great food all around, and good cocktails as well. Service has been excellent each time we’ve gone. I love their burger and think it’s among the best in Ann Arbor! The majority of their food is as bit more upscale, and also absolutely delicious!
I love the staff and the atmosphere is great. I waist to much time enjoying myself to ever finish my meal let alone eat it still while its hot! Lol i fine choice if you wanna chill and enjoy your company and a good bite .
