I cant passed by the bean counter without stopping in for a special home made treat. The treats are so fresh, and made with all natural ingredients. The facility is clean and takes all covid-19 precautions. The staff is professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable of the products that they sell. There is plenty of parking, and if you're not into a special treat, may I recommend a coffee. The best in town.?
Service here seems a bit slow. First time I visited on a Sunday morning and it took a while before I placed my order even though there was no one really in the cafe. I ordered a hot chocolate which was very plain and not sweet at all, so wouldn’t order that again. I also ordered something similar to a turnover which was pretty good. I got a white raspberry cupcake for a friend and the cupcakes are huge—a little too big for my taste.Anyways, I decided to pay them a visit again and this time there was absolutely no one in the shop. One employee was on the phone, another was wiping down tables and the owner, I’m assuming, walked away from the counter as I was looking at different options. I know they close at seven pm, but it was an hour before close and not one person greeted me or asked if I needed any help. The girl wiping down tables stared at me for a good minute, but proceeded to continue cleaning tables. I have a theory for why I was ignored, but this is poor customer service and I won’t be back.
I've been going to the bean counter on highland for years. I stopped by the Grove Street location for the first time recently. While we were waiting in line, we had kind of a rude interaction with someone behind the counter that lead to an unorganized and confusing check out experience. The pastries were very sweet and dry, which is not a usual experience for the bean counter. Left me feeling kind of sour.
One of the highlights of wedding planning is the cake tasting, and if you choose Bean Counter Bakery, you’re really in for a treat! We chose Bean Counter Bakery because not only did their flavors blow us away, but we were also excited to support a local, woman-owned business. We chose a spice cake with an apple caramel filling and buttercream frosting and, oh man, just remembering it is making me hungry! The cake was beautiful and absolutely divine. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how delicious the cake was: delicately moist, not overwhelmingly sweet, and perfectly fitting for a New England fall wedding. The Bean Counter team was a joy to work with and our wedding day delivery was seamless. I’m still thinking about the cake ?. We ordered a specialty cake for a baby shower. It came out super cute and was delicious! Very friendly communicative staff. Highly recommend!
The best local bakery around! They have a great assortment of treats any day of the week. I’ve purchased several custom cakes for celebrations and they’ve always been superb. Even their vanilla cake is so delicious you could eat it without icing. You can tell they put a lot of care into everything they make. You won’t be disappointed!!
We were married on 12/11/2021 and decided to go with Bean Counter as they are the preferred vendor for our venue, and we are so glad we did!! The cake was absolutely exquisite and we got lots of compliments on how unique and beautiful the design was. The cake itself was delicious and our guests couldn’t get enough! Working with Alice was a breeze and she is very thorough and responsive. Don’t miss out on the tasting so you can sample a few flavors - you’ll have a hard time picking between all the amazing flavors she’s put together! Highly recommend!
Alice and her team did such an outstanding job on our Son and Daughter-in-laws wedding cake. It was just spectacular and of course tasted amazing. I got a few pastries and cakes here and the staff are always super nice and the desserts are delicious and never dry. I got a chocolate mocha cake for my birthday and it was truly the best cake I’ve ever had in my life. Not too sweet but could really taste the mocha flavor and super moist. Amazing staff and I found my new favorite bakery.
As some with a gluten allergy, I’m so excited about discovering this cafe. There gluten free cupcakes and pastries are self packaged, and in a separate display case, no concern of cross contamination from crumbs. On top of it there lates are excellent, and not only is the self packaging awesome but the laterite’s are fantastic.I have found it so difficult to find a place that are on top of allergy’s.
