There are places you go to, and the dinner is great but they fall out of your memory not too long afterwards. There are also places where it’s easy to assume you’re going to get throwaway easily prepared processed foods. I’m happy to say that this not the case on those two things here at Mount Vernon Restaurant & Pub. We will never forget this place. We are visiting Boston for the first time on vacation and chose Mount Vernon because it was in our AirBNB vicinity for the first night of our stay. We wanted something close after a really long day of travel to get here. We were absolutely blown away. That all begins and ends with every person we encountered treating us like they’ve known us forever in the neighborhood. What more could you ask for? We will never forget that. EVER!But you go to restaurants to eat, and that’s what truly makes this place so special. The team doing the cooking in that kitchen are all chef level cooks doing some rather amazing dishes. We were floored by the quality, the presentation, and most importantly … The taste. I will add that we’ve had popovers before, but have never had any as delicious and perfect as these. They give you these massive things as part of your meal!!! Let me add … Those popovers should win awards. The waitperson did an incredible job and was just like everyone else at making us feel welcome and part of the neighborhood family. If you are looking for a place to have a great experience, with great people, and some remarkable food. This place is a must! As for us … We will carry this place with us forever, and it will become part of our memory of this amazing trip. What a wonderful surprise and we wish it was in our neighborhood back home. We’d be there a few times weekly if that were the case.

Awesome Baked Stuffed Lobster, stuffed with Lobster!Mother's Day was nothing less than great, at The Mount Vernon. They also boasted a Buffet, on that day too. The members of my party that had it, boasted about everything that they had there.Try The Mount Vernon, you'll be glad that you did, and will go back again and time again!

Good food, not too crowded but definitely not empty. Nice atmosphere with seasoned staff very pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. Homestyle menu does not dissapoint. Prices are typical for the area. I would definitely recommend the Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy. I would definitely go again.

Gave us dirty, unprepped oysters cooked in their own filth. Probably banking on the fact we were getting takeout so we wouldn't be back for a refund; feels like we were scammed. Almost $30 for inedible garbage. Disgusting.

The wine and garlic steamer was delicious and big! We throwback Thursday deal is also great. $8 for the rib and clam casino each.

Stopped here for an early dinner with my parents. We liked the casual bar atmosphere and the hot popovers! We had the specials (roast pork and shrimp saute) and they were really good with huge portions and very reasonable prices. Friendly, attentive staff too. Thumbs up!

Was definitely a local place, which I like. Was there for a mercy dinner, was very good and our servers we're on the ball. Food was very good for 40 people.

Quality was compriable to high end restaurants with reasonable prices and a down home feel.Greeted and waited on immediately approached frequently to see if all set. Highly recommended to all friends and family

The blonde waitress we had was so sweet, can’t remember her name but she was great! First time here and food was good so no complaints! Will be back!

Haven’t been here for a while. Ellen was our server and was absolutely fabulous!! Thankfully they had Galliano for me as that’s my favorite drink. My wife had the meatloaf special and I had the prime rib. Both were cooked to perfection. Sides were hot and delicious. Ellen recommended the apple crisp for dessert and it was probably the best I’ve had in a long time. The ONLY complaint I could make would be we were sat in the back dining room that the heat had not been turned on yet and we were quite chilled. Other than that it was 100%!!
