Wow, really delicious! Love the big, chewy dough pizza. Both buffalo Mac and cheese and white pizzas were great. A bunch of others looked good too, looking forward to trying them!
I've tried every pizza place in town, if not all, close to all. I've been regularly disappointed. Finally, I decided to try these guys, after remembering a great experience I had ordering the steak bomb.I only recommend Essex NY pizza. Don't waste your time or money on any other pizza spot in town. Beats flying saucer and bambolina.10/10 don't go anywhere else.
A couple of store clerks suggested this place for lunch and I wasn't so sure because it was in a sort of dingy mall, but the pizza was excellent! Is there anything better than the perfect slice of pepperoni pizza? Free refills and generous portions.
I have never had bad food from these guys ever. The pizza is cooked to perfection each and everytime I go. Very generous on the cheese even if you don't asked for extra. It always comes out wicked thick and stringy like something you'd see off a TV commercial. They don't have a ton of advertising which is unfortunate but think of this place as a type of hidden jewel if you will. Located close to downtown in the shopping plaza they have plenty of shops and other things to walk around and see after you catch a bite. Can't beat the price for the size of the slices you get either. Favorite place for pizza by far.
Wasn't to pleased with my Spinach it was crispy and had stem still on it. Always liked the pizza there in the past.
Moved to the area and have tried a bunch of pizza around. Of the dozens of pizza shops we have tried (not proud of it, but we were busy moving in)...this place has the best tasting pizza and fries by far. They even send out free pizza coupons for when you move to the area which was AMAZING and helpful.
Disclaimer: I'm from NYC, born and bred. I've eaten New York pizza from Manhattan, Staten Island, and Brooklyn all my life. I've also eaten in "Nonna" sauce (gravy) restaurants my entire life. With that said ...The pizza is not NYC style pizza. Maybe NY State, but definitely not NYC. The sauce is good -- not too sweet, not too spicy. It's thick and has been cooked well. It's not a "fresh sauce" (raw) sauce, which I tend not to like. The menu states that they use "pizza cheese." In NYC, pizza joints generally use mozzarella. Nothing more, nothing less. The cheese seems like it's mostly mozzarella, but it tastes like there's something else mixed in. This is very common here in MA. The crust tastes ok, but it's WAY TOO thick. It has the mouth feel and weight of a typical non-NYC crust. I don't believe it was hand thrown, more like rolled out and patted down. This is what I really didn't like about the pizza. The crust was too thick. They obviously clean their ovens because the bottom of the pizza wasn't burnt and didn't have caked on crud. This is very, very good. If you're looking for NYC style pizza, this isn't it. If you're used to thick, bread crusts then it should suite your taste.Their NY calzones are ok. Good fluff of ricotta, lots of mozzarella, and a nice crust. I just wish there was more ham. My calzone barely had any ham in it at all. I think I had two, very small, thin pieces The sauce is key -- thick and well-cooked.The eggplant parm with pasta is delicious! The slices of eggplant were thicker than I'm used to, but that doesn't take away from the fact that the breading is flavorful and the oil was clean. Eggplant is a sponge and will take on any flavor in that oil. I tasted nothing but perfectly fried eggplant! The edges were nice and crispy, there was enough mozzarella, and the pasta was good. Again, that sauce is delicious. All in all, I wouldn't order pizza or calzones from here again. HOWEVER, I will come back for the eggplant parm dinner.
I came here with some friends and ordered two large pizzas. No complaints. The pizza was delicious and we were served quickly on what was a pretty busy day. The restaurant isn't big but manages to have ample seating if you don't mind being a bit cramped but we managed a small group comfortably. The restaurant is fun and lively and manages to be a bright spot in a somewhat depressing mall. I'd definitely recommend for a quick reliable bite to eat in a prime location adjacent to a parking garage.
I had a pepperoni slice here on the day of Halloween. The slice was smaller than what I expected. It was dry and had a disappointing taste.
Great pizza ! This is a must have when visiting Salem. The young people who took our order and served us were wonderful as well.
