Food is not that good. Very bland and basic. They weirdly only sell bottled water (no tap)? There are much better options for Italian in the area. The service was good, though.

Well done! Well, I like my steak tips medium but they were great! Friends recommended I go and I'm glad I did.

In response to Connor Walsh’s post, His version is not the version the eight patrons in our party at his restaurant have.Four of the eight patrons in our party are medical professionals who have MUCH experience dealing with people who have substance abuse issues. All four of us smelled alcohol on him and all of us witnessed his unprofessional, unacceptable and horrific behaviors by telling other patrons at the bar what had happened. He is a disgrace to his profession. Other people have complained about his horrible behaviors and I sincerely hope he gets some much-needed professional help. He has ABSOLUTELY NO right talking about other people about HIS patrons. One of the women in our party is over 80 years old and another one was in her 90’s and none of us especially the senior citizens deserved his incorrigible disrespect. He actually pointed to us and laughed at us as we were leaving his establishment. If Conner has the need to talk about his issues about his patrons I suggest he do it confidentially with a licensed professional and not in a public establishment that he owns. If he is talking about us to other people, I’m sure he’s talking to other people about his other patrons. How sad that customer service is no longer valued. His behaviors are truly unprofessional and disrespectful.

Food is great, atmosphere relaxing, and very friendly staff!!

Unfortunately I had a very negative and unpleasant experience with the owner of this restaurant. I am from out of state and whenever I visit family in the greater Boston area, we make it a point to go to Cafe Venice. Tonight was a horrible experience because of the owner and his unprofessionalism. One of the steaks was cooked incorrectly (a steak that was ordered rare came out well-done), and when asked to have it re-made, the waiter seemed confused, eventually took it back to the kitchen, then brought the same plate back with the same well-done steak. The waiter said, per the kitchen, the steak was rare and we were mistaken. I"m not sure how a wait staff can tell a customer that they are wrong about their opinion or preference. Even if the steak was rare, should the kitchen not just honor the customer's request and re-make the steak? VERY poor customer service. (Of note - side dishes were forgotten and drinks were not refilled once during the entire meal for any of the 8 guests). Eventually the owner came to our table and from the start, accused one of the members of our party of swearing at the waiter (which he didn't) and, again, that he was wrong for saying the steak was over-cooked. Understandably, this answer was unacceptable to our group and the owner proceeded to provoke one of his guests. The owner refused to acknowledge this customer's grievance, and told us to never come back. I hope he reads this because his wish is granted. Our family has brought a lot of business to this restaurant, and the owner was too obnoxious and arrogant to listen to his customers. Also of note, the owner was visibly intoxicated which would likely explain his childish behavior. But this is not the first time he has acted like this either. The bill was paid in full and our party left. As we were leaving, the owner was standing at the bar (surprise), talking about our group to other patrons. We could hear him talking about us as we left and he even pointed us out (including a 92 year old woman) to the people he was talking to. I feel bad for the people who are employed at this restaurant, and hope they can find a better place to work with more professional ownership.

Owner was INCREDIBLY rude. A steak was sent back for being overdone, and it was put back on the table saying they would not redo it. I am visiting from out of state and heard good things. I will NEVER come back. The owner was very visibly intoxicated and was extremely disrespectful to customers. He then talked about my family to other patrons at the bar, pointing at us as we were leaving.

In regards to Stephens post that is not what happened. The customer complaining about his steak never even cut into it. Then proceeded to swear at a 14 year old bus boy. This is NOT the first time this customer has made other minors cry because of his attitude and bad language. Yes the owner was called up from working in the office. NOT drunk. Angry yes for a customer verbally abusing a minor. Yes they were asked to leave. Once again this was not the first time. When the owner went to give him back his change. The customer told the owner to stick it. The owner did say to the customer that now he has made two minor females and a minor male cry and that he hopes he was proud of himself. The customer did want to apologize after the fact but the bud was to shaken up. Once again this was the third time this has happened with the same customer.
