Headed here for a weekday pick me up. Needed some nice Sichuan peppers to lift our moods and this hit the spot. Flavorful and spicy fried rice and Dan Dan noodles and some amazing pork soup dumplings.Staff was super nice and very prompt. And we got complementary jasmine tea which we enjoyed with our meal!Recommend!
This restaurant offers authentic Chinese food--Sichuan (spicy & salty) style. So you have to pick up the right dish and enjoy it to the utmost. Food is made fresh. Staff are very friendly and honest. Deliveries is available in regions far away from Newton, in the form of group purchasing.
Always is something wrong with this restaurant, lady take order never listen, always miss something on my order. not recommend this place
Food and service were both great! Would definitely return here again! Everything was really fresh! From the peking duck to the seafood soup to the mala fish to salt and pepper pork. The restaurant itself isn't very big but they do a good job accommodating large parties. There is parking onsite which is good. They also have a satisfactory choice of liqour, wine, beer and sake.
had a fraud transaction of $22 by this place posted recently on my old credit card (has never been lost). It’d been impossible to notice the fraud if I haven’t moved out of state and I was a regular. I assume someone at this restaurant saves your credit card info and steals. Bring cash if you still wanna go.
Egregious prices for what you get. Obviously it is not a cheap area to do business, but I expected some quality with these prices. No. Cheaper ingredients like vegetables and starches are the focus of dishes rather than proteins. I had high hopes for the “handmade dumplings” but was very disappointed by the tastelessly mild chili garlic sauce. Dumplings were also not hot. Like many others have said, the service is good and the staff is indeed very nice. But if you go to a restaurant for food this isn’t the spot. To be rather blunt, I feel that this is really no different at all from your run of the mill Americanized fare, and a lot of the wordless reviews strike me as questionable. See for yourself, but you probably shouldn’t…
I will be completely honest. Staff was incredibly nice and service was good. Meals were $40 each… You are legitimately better off going to Panda Express. Waitress said shrimp were “jumbo” but they were very small and clearly frozen. I feel bad because the staff is nice but nothing irritates me more than going to a restaurant and feeling robbed after my meal. Save your money. Expensive and not good. Nice staff though
Our go to chinese food restaurant in the area! Been coming here for years. This is the real authentic Sichuan cuisine, not your americanized take out! When they say it's spicy, it's actually spicy! Haven't had a dish we didn't like.
Lovely clean ambience. Extensive menu. Prompt service. Food came out steaming hot. Flavorful but not too spicy. Vegetarian friendly items included lo mein, tofu with veggies and veggie spring rolls. Convenient small free parking lot.
Not great...Today we went to Sichuan Gormet House for lunch. We got there at 12:30 on a rainy October Saturday (Halloween weekend). Beside our party there was one other table of diners present. There were four in our party. We ordered an assortment of dishes. For appetizers we had soup dumplings and spicy wings. We ordered dan-dan noodles, duck fried rice and a sizzling fish in hot & spicy bowl. The positive... The restaurant was clean and tastefully decorated. Service was attentive without being pushy. The ingredients seemed reasonably fresh and freshly prepared. The negative... To start, our noodle dish was served a full 5 minutes before our appetizers. I know I'm being nit-picky but it seemed a bit strange to me. Our appetizers were the soup dumplings and spicy chicken wings. The dumplings were warm but not steaming hot, like they should have been. Also there was no soup in the dumplings. No in any one of them. I've had soup dumplings in many other restaurants, they all had soup within. Not these. The chicken wings tasted of salt. It was not that they had a "salty" flavor but I could actually taste the raw salt on them. They were tossed in a sauce containing onions, scallions and many dried chilis. While there was an abundance of dried chilis tossed with the wings, they had absolutely no heat at all. None. The only flavor these wings had was salt. I tried a few of the peppers on their own. These were the most teastless dried chilis I have ever encountered. The sizzling fish was a strange dish. A bowl of portions of white fish floating in chili oil. Yes, floating in a bowl of red colored oil. The portion size was generous but there was absolutely no sizzle on the fish. There was also no flavor other then oily. Fish portions floating in warm, red oil... The chili oil should have been spicy. The fish should have sizzled when it hit the oil. A rich flavor should have been in this dish. Sadly, it was all absent. A tasteless bowl of red oil and fish.Overall... The food was just not good. Not bad but not good either. Food that should have come from the kitchen piping hot was luke warm at best. While there were many chilis served in the dishes, none emparted and flavor nor heat. Salt was used as a primary flavor and not as a flavor enhancer. Pricing was on the high side. High-average but but portions were a bit small for the price. Nice restaurant, good location, nice staff, salty and oily food. Not a great dining experience!
