Super fresh sushi takeout but you can eat on the little tables on the sidewalk out front.
This was my go to place for Sushi for years until I moved to the West Coast. I still haven't found anything remotely as good and inexpensive in LA.I would easily drive a long distance to pick up Sushi here. Its well worth and then some.

Great sushi grade fish is available for sale. You can also order takeout sashimi, nigeri, maki, and rice bowls. Everything is super fresh.
Do not shop here. They will be out of business soon. They treat customers very poorly as well as ones with medical conditions. They demand that customers (even with medical conditions) cover their faces and show vax papers to shop with them. This is against the law in Newton and Massachusetts. There is literally no other business doing these harsh practices against customers in the area. If you visit other stores that sell Japanese goods you will be treated much better. Don’t give Sakanaya your time or business.
What a hidden gem! I would never find this place if it's not because my local foodie friend took me there. Their products are amazingly fresh and delicious. Even though they don't have a big collection, but everything you buy there will taste very good and will not disappoint you.
Can't say enough about this place. Best sushi in Boston, period. I hope no one finds out about this place so the prices don't go up, great value and great quality!
Outside line is constant. People park all over. It's not worth the trouble in my opinion. Food is good, but not going again.
A truly hidden gem in Newton, you'll be glad to find it when you get there. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations. You can point out what fish you would like and they will slice it up for you and package it with or without rice nicely. So creamy, fresh and satisfying!! I will definitely come back when I have plenty of time on my hands.
What a gem for sushi lovers. The prices and freshness can't be beat. You've a wide selection of practically any seafood you could want. The sushi bowl is priced to perfection where you can pick your own pieces to add in. The staff, polite and courteous. It's like having a piece of authentic Japan next door. Otoro tuna pieces are marbled so evenly they match any A5 wagyu beef, the sweet shrimp and the Maine uni (sea urchin) are freshly sweet. If you love sushi, this is a must go
