I've been eating from Bernard's since they were in the upper mall. Everything is so delicious and fresh. I love all of the people who work there. Alan, Gordon, Peter, Phil and Bernard. They have the best hot and sour soup. I love so many dishes it's hard to say just one. Chicken soong, Duck, Mooshi, Singapore noodles to name a few. We moved to Plymouth MA 11 years ago and I won't eat Chinese food from any other place. Luckily we come to Boston often so l can take out. When you've had the best everyone else pales.
My favorite Chinese restaurant in the whole of Boston. They use quality and fresh ingredients. The food taste so good. The restaurant is nice and clean. The staff are friendly and eager to serve. We come here for birthday celebrations, family dinner, date nights, or quick meal. I love to start with sesame noodles, fried pancake, and hot and sour soup. The Peking duck is so good, the skin is so crispy and the meat is juicy. They even roll them up for you. My other favorite are Chilean sea bass with vegetables, sweet and sour chicken, Mahpo Tofu, lobster noodle, Crispy egg noodle with chicken. They also have a special noodle e-mee which need to be order in advance usually for special occasion. The price is also very reasonable.
Nice atmosphere, full bar, and good service, but the food was meh at best. Veggie dumplings and sweet and sour soup were good. General Gau's chicken wasn't very crisp and the sauce came from a bottle, with no spice, just a couple of hot peppers thrown in at the end. Noodles with vegetables was very basic with little flavor. Tomato egg drop soup sounded like an interesting twist on the classic, but it has a weird sweet edge remanicent of Campbell's tomato soup
Revised April 2022: Still good.i would say 4.5 with potentials for 5! Try sweet sour chicken!OK, so I travel to Asia and Hong Kong 4 times per year, and this I'm a hard grader for Chinese foods. This place is a 4. You can't find a better one in Chestnut Hill, but it's just not a 5. The pork ribs and Peking ducks were good, but noodles and fried rice were just OK. Servers were nice and they made us wraps for Peking Duck.
I have been dining here for over 25 years. For the best Chinese food you will ever experience in the Boston area Bernard’s is far and away the number one place. Service is second to none as well. Lynn, David, George and Lily never disappoint. The Manager Alan is a true professional and knows what customer service is. Even Bernard himself consistently makes his guests feel welcome. Keep up the great work!!!
Service great, food made as requested and super delicious. Portions were nice.
We’ve been eating at this incredible restaurant for 24+ years.Consistently greatThank you Bernard, Peter, Alan, George and everyone over the years for feeding our family delicious food and serving up great memories
Restaurant has apparently closed "out of an abundance of caution". No notice on the website. Phone rings without going to voicemail or outgoing message of any kind. Only know because I drove by. Unbelievably poor business management that for me would not have been such a big deal except that my 82 year old housebound father was with me.
Came here with my nephew and we ordered wonton and sweet and sour soup. Salt and pepper calamari and ginger scallion shrimp.Everything was delicious and doesn't take a long time to get your food.Johnny was our waiter and he did a phenomenal job. You can tell this is not his first rodeo
Well 1 hr wait time, rude servers and food is mediocre ah and btw meat is microvawed
