Fantastic place!! We loved the atmosphere and food!!
Great selection of Japanese food. Variety of sushi and hot dishes. As an avid udon fan, I got the udon and was not disappointed. The noodles were perfectly cooked, bouncy. Broth was light and delicious. Vegetable choices were excellent. Tempura was crunchy, though would have preferred it served on the side so the soup wouldn’t make it soggy. Portion overall was great. My friend ordered a raw beef and miso dish that was served over a small coal fire that cooked the beef in front of us. Pretty unique dish, and she said it was delicious. The restaurant itself was very aesthetic. The interior is clean and well decorated. The dishes came in aesthetic plates/bowls/etc. Attention to detail in terms of the dishes really added to the experience.

I came on 1/12; ordering take out food for a birthday. On the site they wrote they had just reopened. So I thought the sushi should be pretty good, considering it is there first day.I ordered multiple sushi rolls, sashimi, also ordered the Katsu Don. I know I got take out, so I expected the chicken to be dry, but this chicken was overcooked when it got into the box. I needed so much water to get it down. The Sushi was just ok, I would not say good. The cooks smooshed the sushi rolls together to fit it into the take out box; but because of this I could see just how little sushi they put in each roll, so cheap. Too top it off the sushi rice was barely seasoned, it was like eating plain white rice.I had not been to this restaurant for a long time due to terrible service the previous time I was here. I figured I would give this place another chance. So many other places to get sushi from. I would say not worth it.

Really a 4.8...4.9 Excellent food, we got the scorpion roll, spider roll, dragon roll and the spicy scallop roll. Highly recommend if you like sushi rolls. Little to no wait to be seated or for our order, very clean. Lots of selection for food. The only improvement I could see is maybe having an expanded drink menu, but that's minor because there's a good selection of sake and Japanese whiskey. Definitely will be going back and recommending to friends.
Most food is still quite OK but it’s getting more and more pricy. Eel rice bowl tasted nothing more special than microwaving the cooked & bagged unagi yourself, which is 1/3 of the price.** Update: I appreciate the timely reply from the owner and apologize for my "more and more pricy" claim, it may just be myself ordering more over the time. For "Eel rice bowl", I was supposed to mean Unaju.
Busy night. Short staffed. Awesome meal. Great server. GF knowledge was strong. Will be back soon.
One of the best Japanese restaurants in Metro Boston with prices substantially lower than Downtown Boston. It's worth getting through the traffic. Oga is at its best with daily specials. You can still ask for the specials when dining on but most have now been listed in the menu and the servers simply tell you what is or isn't available, when ordering. The nigiri is perfectly thought through and portioned, unlike many other places that either offer you too much rice on each roll, or too little. The fish is pristine in both sushi and sashimi. Maki selection is the almost the same as the original Ginza, where Oga ran the sushi bar. Some of the kitchen dishes are hard to find in this area, as is some of the fish in specials. Best eggplant, hokkayaki and agedashi dofu around - not sure how they compare to NYC or LA but this restaurant would easily survive there. Exceptionally friendly and loyal staff - I've seen some of them at both Ginza locations going back to the 90s. On the down side, the minimalist decor that was modern, bright and airy initially didn't age well. But some of it was functional, as the menu had been expanded prepandemic. But it could still use an upgrade. Overall, a great place that can be easily missed because of location. Also has a sister noodle bar in Cambridge and a now-spun-off teppanyaki restaurant in Nashua with a similar menu.
The food here was really good. I had a Philadelphia roll (no judgements please), chirashi and the kushiage dinner. Everything was really good and tasty although some pieces of the sushi were pretty small (salmon) while others were large (tuna). If you get the kushiage you may want to ask for extra sauce.
