Last night I got a parigina cake for 50 people for an anniversary and everyone was asking me where I got from. It was so good. Modern pastry in Medford is the best.
My favorite pastry shop in Massachusetts! If you’ve never been here, get the chocolate covered strawberries, crème brûlée, m&m chocolate bars, or the tiramisu. :)
You can place cake orders on the website and pay by credit card and choose free pick up. This is what I did. When I picked it up, the woman asked me if I wanted to take a look and double check the writing on the cake before she wraps it up. It looks fine and simple like how I wanted it to be.I never had the Bacio cake before but I wanted something hazelnut. The cake was delicious. Moist cake layer with delicious hazelnut cream. It was only $30 for 6-8ppl cake. Great pricing.Inside the bakery was bright, clean, and modern looking. Will be placing more orders online in the future to try more of their cakes!
Modern Pastry is just the best. I've never had anything from them that I wouldn't rate 5 stars. We took a friend there, and she was able to get a perfect cake. Their Medford store is always less busy than the North End and you can actually find parking.
Good LORD this place is excellent. I had the Bacio, Limoncello, and chocolate mousse cakes. All A+ cakes. Some of the best dessert ive had. Also, hat tip to the staff for having good music taste. One knock: Its 2022. Stop lying that youre cash only. Its extremely inconvenient - and its not like your stuff is cheap.
The best in Boston! Gorgeous and delicious cakes that this NYC girl happily brings home after a visit here. My daughter’s 21st birthday cake was rich with chocolate but oh so light. The service is great too! Love Modern!!
Best cannoli in Boston, hands down. And the Lobster Tails!
From the moment we walked in, the staff was welcoming. The gentleman at the counter walked us through our orders, told us to take a seat, brought the coffee and cannoli out to us - filled the shells fresh! We sampled some biscotti - perfect!

I've never taken the time to write a review. But they upset me so much. Even a customer waited out side and told me to go back in. I'm from NH buying a tarimasu and canolies fir a special gathering. The Italian Bakery was where I was sent to pick up the desserts. I called Modern on 2 different occasions to make sure they would gave what I needed, knowing the people having the party were very particular. I asked to see the Tarimasu and it was the wrong one I told them Not the one that looks like a birthday cake! I said, the one that has only the chocolate powder and you can see the cake , They asked me who I spoke with. I didn't know, I said whoever took my call, they were rude, said nothing we can do, brought another dark haired man out front he was rude nothing we can do. I paid 106.0p for the wrong cake on top of very rude service.
