I delivered there before and I'll flat out say it's operation was disgusting. People smoking with cigarette in mouth with ungloved hands handling and separating noodles. I hope it's changed but I swore after I delivered their flour I wouldn't ever recommend their product to anyone.
bought 2 boxes of Hoo Mee chow mein last week. Threw both away. As soon as you open up noodles, their is a very strong chemical like smell. Will not buy again.
Please look into your process for the boxes you send to retail stores. Something is very wrong and it ends up with a horrific smell and taste. Almost like varnish or something. It never used to be like this, but there are multiple reviews with this issue so something has to change. Whenever I buy a bag directly from your location, the noodles are perfectly fine and tasty!
I used to absolutely love your chow mein. But once again. I bought 2 boxes planning on using 1 for dinner tonight. Both boxes are disgusting. There is a horrible taste and smell. This has been going on for awhile now. I only need 1 box for my dinner, I always buy 2 now. This way I make the gravy and taste the noodles before mixing. Usually I'll have 1 good box. But yet again both boxes were nasty. So yay I wasted sirloin tips that I cooked up in the gravy.
I'm 46 years old and I've been eating these noodles since I was a young teenager. I make hamburger chow mein and chicken chow mein with sprouts celery and onions... It comes out so good. Well the last 4 years I haven't been able to enjoy a meal from this company. Every time I get them they have this horrible taste and smell. I moved to new Hampshire 7 years ago and my mom likes to surprise me with about 10 boxes of these noodles so I can make my famous chow mein but I had to tell her to stop buying them because they are always spoiled. Something needs to be done about this. It's wrong on so many levels.
I have always been a big fan of this Chow Mein until last year. I have bought several boxes (at different times and at different grocery stores) and my suppers have been completely ruined. When you open the bag of noodles you get this horrible chemical smell….SO strong!! The noodles are INEDIBLE and if you try to add the gravy mixture on top the smell is so concentrated and stinks up the kitchen. Unfortunately, they’ve lost my business. I’ve had to throw out too many boxes! I hope this issue gets resolved as I am confident that many, many other people will stop buying!
Bought a box of this and cooked it tonight. Awful tasting noodles. The smell is horrific as well. They looked burnt and taste like nail polish remover.
I just bought a box this week. Exp says 5/22/22. Go to make it smells horrible, and tasted bad. Happened to me once before. Figured the noodles go bad before exp date. So I was sure to make it within the week I got it. Still went bad even with over a month date. Come on guys get it together, and fix the problem. Seeing others reviews of the same should say something. If you don't figure out what's wrong fix packaging. You might not end of have this as a selling product. Love this chow mein. What a let down.
My parents bought 2 boxes yesterday and when we started eating it we noticed the taste was awful! When we ever smelled the boxes we were shocked by the overwhelming nauseating chemical smell. Similar to paint thinner. My dad felt sick afterwards and only ate a few bites. This company needs to be closed down! Their products are tainted with who knows what chemicals. They need to be taken off the shelves to prevent a lot of people from getting sick. It seems as though numerous others have had this problem based on prior reviews. I will be reporting this.
Ordered a 12 box pack in November’21. Received in early December. Exp date of 12/20/21….every box had the same old smelling noodles, leaving a chalky residue and bad taste. Complained to distributor, very responsive and sent 12 new boxes. Exp date 3/22 but still the nasty smell and foul taste. They mentioned a new trans fat free oil being used. If that’s the cause of the new lousy noodles, they HAVE to go back to whatever oil they used to use. My family has enjoyed Hoo Mee since I was a kid. I’m 56 now. Hoo Mee Chow Mein was a staple in my college days diet. It’s a shame they had to change. The noodles used to be the big difference in competing chow Mein brands. Now I am using La Choy noodles. NOT HAPPY about that
