This isn't the only place dealing with staffing issues, I know. It's a diner so I'm just used to quick greasy food. Maybe I came when a cook quit, who knows. I love Al Macs because it's local to me. They've changed hands alot so the menu has also changed alot in the last two years. I maybe visit once year to see how they're doing. There's been a decline in quality. It could also be that they now do what looks like half their meals as pickup/dash orders. So the morning I was there we waited a significant amount of time for our food. The waitress was apologetic and I was understanding. She also mentioned they are down a cook. But when the food came all of it was cold. The pancake was uncooked in the middle. I'm not terribly upset because but I hope the situation improves for them. Covid made it hard for many businesses and they made a strong comeback, but now it seems to be on the decline again. I'm just glad they still have business.
My husband and I just had a wonderful Sunday brunch at Al Mac's. We're from Plymouth Ma. and took a ride to Fall River, so we could enjoy the ambiance and hospitality of a 50s diner. It was excellent, the owner chatted with us, telling us it is a favorite for politicians meeting voters.
As a long time customer to this establishment I've watched ownership change hands several times. Cliff Ponte and his staff are by far one of the best teams to come thru this historic location in south coast Massachusetts. The waitstaff are very friendly and accommodating, as a regular they make me feel like I walked into a family memebrs house for breakfast or lunch everytime. The menu is packed with all the classics a train car style diner such as this should have as well as some newer dishes and one off special plates you can only get there. Overall this place gets a 5 star review from me as my expectations are always exceeded by the kind, cordial and comedic tendencies of the amazing and dedicated staff down at my favorite diner. 10/10 recommended to anyone seeking a well made meal with friendly faces serving them to you.
We ordered breakfast to go and it was awful! The eggs were undercooked! Very disappointed we love Almacs to go and figured we would try Almacs ! We will not ever order from here again ! I don not recommend!
Quintessential American greasy spoon, nothing remarkably negative to say n the food was definitely better than average. . The bathroom wasn't disgusting but they should've mopped , the day i was there it was snowing , so you gotta check it more than normal ... otherwise you can't beat it for the price ,. I hate to not give a 5 , but details matter
Its okay service wise at best. The food we ordered was bland beyond belief. The fried chicken diner i had was tasteless the mashed potatoes were weirdly textured and the green beans were obviously canned and very salty. Never coming again
first take a little pride in the food you serve! I was just there yesterday 2/27/22 and the person I was with ordered a steak and eggs breakfast, it was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen! more fat than steak ? I'd say 80% fat!
Decent little place. Food was fairly average. Good place for an easy morning. Feel and decor was pretty neat.
I had a great experience.. I have been here several times in the past but my last experience was so good that I had to come by and write it down. So, the place was jumping.. super busy Sunday AM.. seated my table of 5 quickly.. server was super friendly and made us feel welcome. We had a pretty big order but everything came out in great time, no mistakes, and... it was sooo good. Fresh blueberries in the pancakes, banana pancakes were amazing.. over medium eggs cooked to perfection. Prices were good and a patron actually paid for half of my families meal.... I cried. (If you ever see this John's dad... thank you!??) There is a wonderful atmosphere here and the employees love what they do... they have heart and it shows in their food. 10 stars. Keep it up guys.
