Fifties diner has been one of favorite go-to places to eat for years. They hit a rough patch during covid where they had a limited menu, disposable utensils and such. BUT NOW they are back to their awesome old selves.Their soup and salad bar has reopened (which is a game changer. 2 types of soup that are always good and a ton of salad toppings and add ons). You can add it to any meal for $5.75. They are also back to their full menu and real plates as utensils. I'm so glad they survived through covid because I probably would have cried if they didn't lol. Handicap accessible and definately worth the money! They also do breakfast all day and they are a 24/7 diner.
The service was terrible had to ask 3 times for our drinks, asked if the meatloaf at red sauce on the top and she said no it has gravy. Well it had red sauce on it being it was tomato based. Got the teriyaki sliced steak wasn’t sliced and had to ask for a steak knife when normal places bring you one. Husband got chili that had to be heated again because it was cool. Mashed potatoes were like warm gravy sparingly on the bottom of the bowl. The only good thing was the salad bar that didn’t offer much but enough to eat. Then it cost me $33+ to eat there, never again rather have McDonald’s at least the service is better. It took over 30 minutes to receive our supper unacceptable!
Servers are always friendly and fast, food is so good too.
Pork chops are awsome, along with home fries. Great friendly service and it's available for truckers. They have parking for the big rigs. P.S hot sauce are on my home fries and eggs.
Nice lil diner inside a truck stop. Food was AMAZING. I had the pork chops. They were cooked to perfection. Will definitely go again if I'm in the area.
New owners have recently taken over. The food is basically the same. Burgers are good, fries are fresh and plentiful. The house made ice cream is pretty good as well.Service took a huge nose dive. The young man at the counter was completely rude and unconcerned with helping anyone. He was asked by another employee to help scoop ice cream for customers, he got pretty angry that he had to do it. Mumbled under his breath and had a nasty scowl the whole time.
It was horrible. Bad enough for me to leave a review which is something I don't do. Good or bad. 45 mind for the "Fifties Special" dinner food. Pancakes eggs bacon sausage home fries toast. Diner 101. Dry eggs (burnt) How are Pancakes hard to cut that's not good. No flavor potatoes. 11 bucks, still tipped $5 cause I'm not an A hole..but 100% I should have just left when the table that came in 10 minutes after me got thier food. There is no way to comp (which should have been a complete no charge) out of bad service and bad food. Don't think I will come back if I ever have to shutdown in Springfield Mass again again
3/4/22 - Roxanne served me today. I had the 50's Diner overstuffed omelette with home fries. Don't worry, The omelette is not too big. It is just right. I got it for all of the good vegetables in it. It really tasted good overall. Nice clean restaurant and nice employees.
Tuna melt was filling, and the best I've had in a long while. So glad I decided to have it!
I used to love this place and had frequented it often but hadn’t been in 15 years. Took my family here and was sorry I did. Only thing I’m happy about was I got the worst of it instead of my them. Ordered Steak and eggs. Steak had an strange taste and odor to it. I assume it was probably really old and had been frozen for a long time. (May have come from the 50s). Poached eggs thrown in a bowl along with the cup of water they were cooked in. Other entrées included a small lousy western omelette. Long wait while it was not busy at all. If your expectations is to have someone pay at the register vs paying the server just let them know to do so. I was in here for over an hour and 10 min. about 45min were waiting for our order and 15 waiting to pay at my booth. There’s nothing worse then leaving wondering if your going to get sick or not. Plenty of other places to eat that aren’t screwing breakfast up. I recommend trying any of them instead.
