Yume Wo Katare is hands down the most authentic and best ramen in Boston, love a lot of the other places in the city but they don't compare to the mastered simplicity that Yume offers. A single item on the menu is all they offer and all they need to offer, delicious fatty pork, garlic, bean sprouts, thick buckwheat noodles, and a rich and flavorful broth. It's more of an experience than it is a meal, truly something everyone should try if they are a fan of ramen.
Very good ramen. The good stuff is the pork fat, not so much the garlic or meat. They are still great but if you want to get an extra something, try getting the pork fat. It can get too much after a while. Also the menu only has 1 item and the choice is between 2 pieces of meat or 5. Pick 2 unless you really like meat or is generally a big eater.Very cool concept. You'll have a great time, talking about your dreams and listening to the others'
We were in the mode for a bowl of ramen after a full day touring around Boston. Pick it this place as it's close to the Porter Station (some of us were coming from downtown) and free parking (some were driving from Harvard). We were there shortly after they opened at 4pm on a weekday. There were no lines outside but the seats inside were about 80% full. We were seated quickly by the only staff there (who was cooking at the same time) and asked to scan the QR code to order on the phone. There were only two types of ramen on the menu and only one is available, i.e., there's only one thing to order besides drinks. Our party had two adults and a 10-year old. After looking at the generous portions of people already eating there, we ordered two ramen bowls. 10 minutes later, the staff came out and said that we have three people and needs order three bowls. I understood that if the place was busy, they may not want people hanging around. But it was not busy and nobody's waiting. Anyway, they do have a sign there stating that. At that point, we've already paid (including a tip up front online). Since we don't feel like order the same thing three times over and never going to finish it, one of us just left. The two bowls of ramen came and they are good, especially the noodles. That said, they are no where near the best ones we had. The main issue is that the soup has way too much grease/animal fat in there. A great ramen soup is not supposed to fill up with the fat but using the ingrediencies to bring up the taste. We ended up only finishing up about 60% of the food, which is very rare in our case. At the end of the meal, they have a good show asking everyone's dreams etc. It's a good interaction and show. But we were there for the food first. Given the experiences, we will not visit again.
I had a pretty good experience at Yume wo Katare. The overall dining experience was really nice. I went on a day where it was pretty hot ago it was pretty hot in the restaurant too. The seating space is almost shoulder to shoulder.I ordered the buta ramen. Congress with 5 pieces of Charsiu. The broth is pretty good. It's a good tonkotsu. Nice, and fatty as you can see from the bit of fat in the broth. The richness comes from the bits of fat. Definitely good. Very flavorful. Maybe a little bit too salty. Hard to tell. The noodles are very different from your traditional ramen noodles. They're a slightly broad noodle. Thicker than traditional ramen noodles. Picks up the broth okay and complements the broth. There's no egg so that's a bit of a shame. The charsiu was pretty good. Good flavor. Good bit of fat. Flavorful. The veggies with bean sprouts and cabbage. Pretty standard. Definitely add garlic. Overall, good ramen. The ramen is 17 dollars for 5 pieces of Charsiu or 15 for 2. I'd give this ramen 8/10. One of best ramen I've had in Boston. But I've only b been to one or two ramen places in Boston. Having been to majoriy of ramen places in NYC, a good few in Cali, and a couple in Philly, not the best I've ever had. It's not a very traditional style of ramen that I love. But still pretty good. Highly recommended. What's cool is you can share your dreams with your fellow ramen comrades.
Best pork ramen and a must-try in the area. My Japanese friend said it is one of the best pork ramen she has tried. They only have one ramen on the menu with the option of extra meat.
Consistency would be an excellent word to describe what you get every single time you come and visit Yume. Jake and the team always make the experience great and the atmosphere always comes coupled with incredible ramen. Always consistently delicious and just as filling as the first time I remember trying it. The broth is rich in flavor and the pork is always juicy, but you have to get it with the delicious garlic. This is definitely a must try restaurant and I have been coming here for years. The experience is always a little different but always just as great. Definitely give it a try! You won’t miss it it’s the place with the line outside.
Incredibly good ramen, imo. Delicious fatty pork, fresh noodles, etc. but I'll leave the details to the ramen experts. We waited outside about 15 min early on a Friday evening. Contrary to many of the reviews here, they are not cash-only. Maybe they once were. The system now is: you pull up the menu on your phone while waiting outside via a QR code, make your selections, and then pay for it right there on the app with your credit card. I'm not even sure there is a cash option, but I don't know. Another thing to be aware of: the ramen is served in big plastic bowls, but they say they "have no lids for them." They said some people bring their own containers for leftovers. I just took my delicious leftovers with me and was careful not to spill on the ride home. Delicious ramen, huge servings. Only water and soft drinks, no bar. Loved it! (To the mgmt: get lids for the bowls or offer some other means of taking leftovers.)
It’s a good bowl of ramen, nothing special. Probably a tad overpriced for what it is. There’s a weird culture here that I don’t like. Everyone very friendly though.
What an amazing experience, not a meal but an experience. There is only 1 dish, ramen with 2 or 5 pork pieces or spicy. You prefer ahead online while waiting in line. The broth was an intense flavor, so much you gave to a bit of water to refresh your palette. The noodles are fresh and the pork pieces are so meaty, tender and savory. So sinful but do good. The bowl may look average but it's a lot of food. The wait is not long despite the line. The cook confesses his dream along with everyone who finishes the bowl. That part was a fun part. Many come from different backgrounds sharing their dreams. Pretty cool.
One of the best ramen places I have been to in years! And I say this as someone who’s lived in Japan for a while. Fresh noodle combined with excellent broth, meat, and veggies make a perfect harmony. Opt in for garlic!
