After hearing a lot about this bakery from the gluten intolerant/celiac community, this was 110% worth the 40 min drive for me! The brioche style donuts were SO good and I wish they could be available more, I would buy them every week ahaha I've been craving a donut for the last month and this satisfied my craving. My friend who can have gluten got a cupcake and said if this was a blind taste test he would have no idea that it's gluten free. My sister and brother in law also LOVED the strawberry shortcake and Boston cream puff I got for them and they are also people who can eat gluten. This is a wonderful bakery that can be enjoyed by all!

Best Gluten free pastry I had tried, bravo for who ever had the idea of creating a place completely gluten free. They have also options for dairy free and vegan. I bought almond cake, peach pie, biscottis and a quiche everything was soooo delicious!! The had breads also, but I didn’t buy any which now I regret. Great service, big smile. I wish I live closer so I can buy more frequent. Keep Up the good work ??

Bought some cupcakes from this place in June of 2021 to share with a gluten allergic family member. They were okay, but certainly not good enough to put up with the owner’s appalling behavior. For the better part of a year, the proprietor of this establishment has been waging an extremely aggressive campaign against bike lanes, going so far as to sue the city over their implementation. When the judge threw out the case, the owner publically compared their case being thrown out to the overturning of Roe v. Wade by the supreme court. Absolutely shameful behavior betraying a complete lack of perspective.

To preface, the response below will say I am a fake biker review although I don't ride bikes. I also did not make the purchase, my friend from BU did and their name will be left out so the owner cannot look them up. The food was decent but the people who worked there were rather rude (or having a bad day??) and did not say hello, basically looked like they hated being there which was surprising because it's a nice place! After, I had also seen all the poor responses from the owner on here that are not helpful or nice to their customers which I figured this, the rudeness must stem from the owner. Nice place but will likely spend my money elsewhere in the future.

Tried their special brioche donuts that they make once a month. Delicious, fluffy, unique flavors; will definitely be back! Employee that checked me out was very friendly and welcoming.

Been here a handful of times. Highly recommend the donuts, eclairs, cream puffs and bread puddings. And definitely their strawberry shortcake when it’s available. I would completely ignore all the recent negative reviews, as they’re not about the food. The owner has the right to advocate for what she thinks is best for her small business. Kind of twisted to leave a review for a place you have never visited just because you don’t agree with their “politics”.

I absolutely love this bakery and am so grateful that I live closeby because I don't drive. I've had to go gluten free recently (preferably egg and dairy free too, when I'm being good). I've tried many gluten-free or vegan products, either they don't taste good, are way too sugary or I get an allergic reaction of some sort which I have not had with Violette's. There are always dairy free and vegan options too. The owner and staff are all amazing and I love the way that they have specials all the time. I'm a pretty picky and fickle person but this is the place I am sticking with. Other than their famous staple cupcakes, their Boston cream puffs, eclairs, cookies, pizzas, sour dough breads, bagels, challahs and empanadas etc are all amazing. My favorites are always their Saturday specials such as cinnamon buns, pop tarts (see photo), brioches and the to-die-for doughnuts that people queue up for. There are always surprises when you get to the store with seasonal cupcake flavors (peppermint and chocolate), strawberry shortcake (yum: see photo) and fun cookies (sugar cookies shaped like a turkey, Christmas tree or gnome). What I look forward to the most are the holiday specials: Christmas: ready-to-bake pot pies and log cakes, and Valentine's Day chocolates (see photo) and fresh strawberry cream cake. They are always trying out new recipes and value their customers' opinion. I asked if the owner would consider making smaller cakes for us single folk on Valentine's Day and they came up with this absolutely gorgeous heart-shaped fresh cream cake. It is so fresh, airy and delicious (see photo). The bakery is a valuable and integral part of the local community that brings people together. I remember all the fun chats I've had with like-minded customers who are local and some who travel from far away just coming to get their loved ones the treats that they are craving. Today was the first time I've tried their delivery service and that was great too. The driver was friendly and called me to come to the door. Thank you, Violette's for the joy and magic you create : )

I have been coming to this bakery for years and everything has always been delicious! It is extremely difficult to find gluten free and dairy free pastries and breads in the Boston area. My favorites are the donuts, brownies, and the tea breads (the peanut butter chocolate chip when it’s on rotation is the best). My brother (who is not gf) used to live in Cambridge and went here often for the muffins since they were dairy free. Thank you for being an allergy friendly bakery!

Mediocre bakery with an overpriced menu. I know that gluten free bakeries are far and few between, so I normally cut them some slack when their food isn’t great. However, in this case, I feel compelled to speak up and leave a review.I am both a cyclist and a driver. It is amazing the hostility that this bakery’s owner exhibits toward cyclists. She also seems to be pushing / pressuring / encouraging customers to leave fake positive reviews. Just take a look through her responses to reviews - any that she disagrees with, she will accuse of being a fake review from a biker (I’m guessing she will soon do the same about this review). She also appears to be using privileged information (purchase history, customer records, etc) to personally attack reviewers.Save yourself some money and go to a GF bakery that cares about all customers. Also, who knows when the owner will finally truly snap and start doing something crazy like putting gluten in the food of customers she thinks are bikers or are sympathetic to bikers. I’m certainly done shopping here - not worth the risk or hostility.

They have the best gluten free products! Rosemary biscuits and the rosemary crisps are my favorite. (Not sure if that’s the correct name) My son loves all the pastries, especially the fruit pies. And we don’t eat gluten free or have allergies, yet, shrill this is a go to place for us. That says it all.
