The server was nice and friendly, and the food was great. We ordered a number of small dishes and a few large dishes and all of them were very good. They have indoor and outdoor seating, but the space is small, so I recommend making reservations or coming early.
Contemporary middle eastern delectables served in an intimate setting.Recently took a visit to experience another middle eastern hype in Cambridge. The highly-praised za’atar bread was unfortunately no longer served, but their menu still seemed to feature a good amount of creative middle eastern cuisines. Instead of getting the large plates, we decided to try as much mezza starters as possible. While some dishes like the dips plate and the grilled squid were mediocre, other dishes had interesting factors that I liked. Cooked in coconut milk, the Moon mussels had just the right amount of creamy flavor that beautifully complemented the small pieces of merguez. The apricot sauce for the chicken bastilla was also amazing, and the feta fritters with honey glaze were executed flawlessly. My favorite was the eggplant fatteh which had a delightful interplay between the yogurt, pita crisps, eggplants, and other spices. Hallawa cheesecake was also an excellent way to finish off our meal. Sprinkles of pistachio and grape molasses were unique additions that paired nicely with the chocolate cheesecake.
Food is on point. Awesome service too. Wish they gave you more for the money you spend though. The decor and seating, too, leave so much to be desired. The chairs are uncomfortably small and slippery. And the tables are so close to each other that you have no choice to deal with the loud noises pr conversations your neighbors might make. The more visits you make the worse the experience gets.
Moona fires on all cylinders: ambiance; smart, friendly and attentive staff; and remarkable culinary delights. The small restaurant (about 30 seats, including bar) is warm and tasteful. Christine, the hostess (and a server) juggled the requests from our group of 8 masterfully and with good humor. The “mezza” small plates were so magical that we never made it to entrees! Among them, the Moona mussels, Spanish octopus, and Brussel sprouts were favorites, all wonderfully infused with Middle Eastern spices and flavor. Moona doesn’t miss a beat. Next time, which would be soon, we’ll hopefully, get to the enticing “Larger Plates”!
Moona had been on our list for a while and we finally were able to pull the trigger - it did not disappoint! Moona has a wide array of dishes available, we opted for many of the smaller ones, and went at it family style. While it would have been nice to have these dishes spread out (rather than all at once), all of them were wonderful. We especially recommend the “dips” dish, which includes hummus, baba ghanoush, pickle beets, olives, etc. It was one of our favorites. The grapes leaves were also excellent. In all, Moona was an excellent dining experience.
I tried all the vegetarian dishes. Outstanding. My favorite is the eggplant fatteh and the Maine faro (don’t forget the fabulous fattoush). Really nice cozy neighborhood place.

You would think for how much they charge and how few hours they're open, they would get their act together. This is clearly a business that doesn't care about providing decent customer service. The first time we were here, we had outdoor seating but it was pouring rain and barely any coverage. The manager told us to "scoot together" under the umbrella, where it was dripping rain, cold, and unpleasant. It wasn't until the server came to our table that she offered to get us inside. The reservation was at 8pm but we were rushed to finish eating because kitchen closes at 9. Second time, we reserved a table at a time where the staff was there but wasn't open. They were annoyed that we arrived there. They offered to have us sit with the kitchen clanging, have drinks, and have them resent us? No way. It's 2021. The management can't be bothered to take 10-20 minutes to adjust their reservation system? Make it so people don't come when it's not open or come too late that they can't enjoy their food properly. For $20 each for decent quality small plates, don't waste your time.
A magical looking space with beautiful colors and candles, lovely bar if you just want cocktails and bites, great for a special night out. The food was transcendently good! Service too- I didn't realize the mussels had beef on them and they sent me another dish on the house (eggplant dish...it was amazing). Get the cheesecake! It is life changing. Oh, also reservations are helpful as it is a small space.
Got several of the appetizers and the Maine Farro for the main. The restaurant is mainly "tapas" style with small plates that are all very flavorful. The Maine Farro was the largest dish and filling, while the others were mainly for sampling... A bit pricey so definitely for special nights out. Enjoyed all the dishes (grape leaves, dip platter, eggplant, feta fritters)
