We’ve been eating here a few times a year (other than during Covid) for about 10 years we’ve never had anything other than exceptional food. The sticky bun is the star of the show (aka for extra goo!!!!) but everything that is to your personal taste is fantastic.
At Flour Bakery and Cafe, I absolutely love their sandwiches. If you want a killer sandwich with the freshest and most delicious bread ever, Flour Bakery is for you!! Further, they have many other baked goods that are also incredibly scrumptious.
I lived in Boston 2016-2021 and HANDS-DOWN Flour was my favorite part of the city! I would be a brand ambassador for Flour if I could. Their coffee is amazing - lattes are delicious and creamy but strong - and their pastries are incredible. I love their sandwiches too and actually think they're a good value for the size and quality of ingredients. If you get a bacon breakfast sandwich on multigrain bread (also the tomatoes are ALWAYS ripe, how do they do that???) it's easily enough food for two meals. Yes, they run out of things sometimes but that's because they care about serving fresh food, and everything on their menu is amazing so who cares anyway? I even love their white chocolate mocha and I don't like white chocolate. I love Flour!!! Keep it up Joanne!
Flour used to be amazing. Their sandwiches were unparalleled in the nearby area, and were a good competitor vs chipotle or Salonikis. Especially when you felt good that day and like you wanted something that made you feel good about yourself because it seems healthier. But just recently they switched some of their best sandwiches to "bowls" which are pre-made. Those are definitely not worth the $12 price tag, there's barely any protein even. I see flour now more as purely a dessert and coffee place.
Love it! Best baked goods!
We tried some pastries. First, they did not have the raspberry crumb bar as advertised. Second the pop tart type pastry had a flaky crust instead of a dense pie crust, which most people probably prefer if they like pop tarts. Third, the pecan sticky bun had way too much sticky glop. Lastly the chocolate croissant was a little dry.Update January 4, 2022: upon encouragement, we tried this place again. We had a turkey sandwich, gingerbread muffin, and lemon scone. The sandwich was excellent, notably with the combination of condiments and the freshness of everything including the bread, which was a delicious multi grain. The ginger muffin was very good as well as the lemon scone. Service was very friendly and efficient.
Many people love the sandwiches here, but I find them just okay. What I actually find really good here are the soups. Gazpacho here is particularly a refreshing experience. The banana bread is quite good as well.
Flour Bakery is a must stop for breakfast when you are in Boston! Their egg breakfast sandwich is delicious as are their baked goods!
My favorite cafe around! The iced matcha always hits the spot! As someone with a gluten allergy, I really appreciate them having gluten free bread. It's also some of the best gluten free bread I have had! I always get their BLT with it. The gf muffins are also great.
Busy place, friendly staff.French toasts were different but still tasty
