The shared platter at $45 was completely disappointing and well below standard. There was only enough for 3 people. Service was very also very disappointing, rice very minimal between 9 people there was only 3 very small dishes only enough rice for 2 people in each bowl, breads were also missing we had to keep requesting where they were and some family members did not get their meal until the remainder of the group had completed their meal. Not en enjoyable experience. There was more interest in the bus group that came in.
This evening I ordered vegetarian thali. The Shahi Paneer and naan were good but dal makhni and chole were really old and stale. This is a hit and miss restaurant.
Garlic Naan for the win!!!
As people at my workplace will testify, I typically eat Indian food wherever I am. And I am very picky about food. I was in sunny Cambridge last week, and made my first call at Tanjore Indian restaurant, which was an absolute disaster. The idlis were dry and crumbly. The masala dosa was limp and tasteless. My second visit was to Shanti Restaurant at 7 Broad Canal Way, where the food was passable. They have a decent buffet. But the outstanding highlight of my visit was the 'Desi Dhaba'. I ordered the vegetable soup, tandoori roti, Aloo Gobi, Aloo Mutter and rice over my 3 visits. The service was quick. The chefs happily agreed to my requests to make the food with as less oil and spices as possible (like home-cooked food). The accompanying chutneys were fresh and tasty. Absolutely authentic, wholesome and delicious food (it doesn't always happen together). Head and shoulders above everyone else. It's not a very fancy place, but neat, clean and spacious. I would recommend this place to anyone in a heart-beat.
Lunch with two adults and two kids. Nice mix of dishes for everyone. I especially liked the kheer. The vegetable samosas were good too.
Perfect blend of spice with mild sweetness in my coconut chicken korma. Very polite delivery gentleman. Was a great option for delivery while working in Cambridge area.
