If you are looking for authentic Japanese ramen, this restaurant is probably not what you are looking for. Although the food look good on picture, their flavors are quite plain. Ramen portion is small and the broth needs more work. Overall, I feel like I didn’t pay for what I get.
Simply wow. The staff is awesome, so lively and welcoming. All food is great especially the sushi, so fresh. Authentic place overall, and we really enjoyed everything we ordered (here’s just a small sample).
Their ramen is really authentic! Really glad to know that Cambridge finally has an authentic ramen place! They also have a great collection of sake& beer. Particularly, the plum wine served in a pretty glass is really amazing ?Also love the interior design, and the ambiance!
Cool tavern like izakaya. Ramen broth was flavourful and noodles were perfect texture. Portion size on the small side. One piece of sushi is $9, mind you it’s a larger than average piece and well plated. Overall expect to pay for the prime location. Service could be better but they seem understaffed.
Ten years ago, I used to have to troop over to Porter Square in the dead of winter to get my ramen fix. Thankfully there's been a ramen renaissance in Harvard Square since then featuring some well-known chains like Ippudo. Bosso Ramen Tavern is a homegrown and welcome addition to the scene, with a vibrant atmosphere that replicates an authentic Japanese izakaya (complete with shouted greetings for guests entering and leaving), and some fantastic ramen and sushi dishes. We had a reservation at 9pm on a Friday night, but decided to try our luck for an earlier seating, which the restaurant accommodated. We got two apps - the spicy salmon and torotaku handrolls - which were packed with fresh high quality sushi and perfectly cooked sticky Japanese rice.We each had a ramen bowl for the mains, with my partner getting the umami while I ordered the enmi. The ramen noodles were the perfect firmness, while the broths were savory and rich. Perhaps the only item to improve for me is the chashu, since I prefer these fattier and thicker cut, but I understand that America in general and Cambridge in particular is probably a lean meat market. Otherwise these were both great bowls of ramen, and Bosso is well worth a visit if you want a hot bowl of soup in the middle of a freezing Boston winter.
Food was delicious! Great vibe too. Good selection of drinks including sake! Definitely one of the best Japanese places in town. Highly recommend
A new favorite in Harvard Square. The sushi and ramen are great staples, but for me the real gem of Bosso is sharing a couple Tsumami dishes with a group of friends. The more I explore the menu, the more I love Bosso.
Hands down, the best ramen experience in Boston. Very flavorful and unique ramen flavors, incredibly friendly and enthusiastic staff, high-energy vibe. Portions are a bit small, but the taste is remarkable.
Great place to go get some great Ramen. The fried chicken was absolutely juicy and full of rich flavor. The selection of sake is great and the overall atmosphere felt very home like. Cozy, warm, friendly. Top recommendation.
Authentic Japanese ramen - I felt like I was eating ramen back in Asia for the first time in Boston! Yes, its little pricey but all ramen places are in Boston so worth the price.
