We had a lovely experience Friday evening. The food: pasta with seafood, eggplant lasagna, and lobster ravioli, was very good and the service was excellent. We had two servers who were friendly, attentive and professional, who enhanced our experience. They brought us a birthday desssert, the best tiramisu ever, on the house. We recommend this restaurant.

Ate outside due to odd smell upon entering by the bar. (Musty/damp smell). Also odd that entire place was empty on Saturday night. Food was good, except focaccia bread to start was dry and crumbly. Italian Manhattan was missing cherries, but was very good. Sea scallops were phenomenal, grilled chicken with pasta vodka sauce had a seasoning that did not compliment the rest of the dish. Service was great.

The menu had many great choices. There were 4 of us and everyone’s meal was great. We always have a great meal at Vello. The cocktails and wine selections were great too. We are so happy they are in our neighborhood.

While looking for a restaurant My friend and I stumbled upon 3 couples eating outside this restaurant. When asked how their meal was, they said their food was delicious. Well they weren't wrong. I had the short ribs, which were fall apart perfect. The vegetables were magnificent and plentiful. Maybe skip clams Casino, but the Wild mushroom dinner was very good. Tiramisu was enough for two and yummy. The eggplant lasagna and mussels were very much enjoyed by the folks outside; we took that home for tomorrow's lunch. Please give them a try, you will be delighted!!

I was in Brookline visiting a dear friend who recently moved there. She suggested this restaurant and I was very impressed. The ambience (with inside and outside seating) was airy and pleasant. The Menu had good and varied options; those we ordered were delicious. Portions were very large, delivering excellent value. The service was slightly slow but friendly and gracious. What also impressed us - and quite differently - was that on this Saturday night during prime time, there were only 2 or 3 other tables of customers. Why?? Though at a somewhat higher price point than other establishments in the neighborhood, it was not hugely out of line and it deserved what it charged. Please go and try it yourself! Do not let this restaurant die.

Very slow service. The food was fine. A neighborhood restaurant; I may go back.

Vello’s is a great neighborhood restaurant where you will frequently run into acquaintances and friends dining at the next table. The food, especially the pasta dishes, is fresh and tasty. Though they seem chronically understaffed, the servers are friendly and committed to your having a satisfying experience.

Relatively new restaurant with a nice menu. Excellent food and wine offerings, though the latter is pricey. Definitely worth returning.

I really do not appreciate you saying that you will charge my card $25 a person if we do not cancel 24 hrs in advance. I only made this reservation less than that and if I had to cancel I would never not call the restaurant and would NEVER let you charge me! I eat at fine restaurants all over the world and yours does not qualify to do something like this and I take offense at this!

Our appetizer came out with the entree. Steak was over cooked. Understaffed.
