I wish this wasn't my "second" lunch that day. A friend and I strolled down Harvard st to find some lunch after ordering takeout from a local Thai restaurant and having to throw half of it out. I wish we would have went to soup shack first so I would have been able to finish the delicious Tom Yum noodle soup I ordered. The broth was tasty and noodles and pork were cooked to perfection. Our server was delightful and extremely polite! Can't wait to come back here and enjoy an entire lunch!
Very delicious ! The fried gyoza was my favorite app. The karaagee chicken was ok. I feel like there was too much batter for me but if you like fried chicken it's pretty crunchy. The spicy miso ramen was very delicious it came with yellow ramen noodles. The Tom yum noodle soup was sweet and sour but more on the sour limey side. It came with pho noodles. The Tom yum soup got too much for me after a few bites due to how sour it was. It was good but not enough for me to enjoy a full bowl without my tongue coming off I order the chicken rice bowl to go and that was very delicious as well. Came with pickled carrots and veggies. I would come back and try the other ramens and soups!
The name is a bit misleading - checking online I assumed the Soup Shack would be similar to places like the Soup Factory in Salem and have a nice selection of soups but in reality this is an Asian soup shack (which fit perfectly for me as I was craving ramen). Small space so we decided to order take out. The menu isn't huge but does have some harder to find items like chicken katsu. We ordered the black tonkatsu ramen and the chicken katsu and it was done within the predicted 20 minutes. I didn't love the black tonkatsu. It wasn't as tasty as I expected. The meat was excellent in it but the other parts (even the noodles) just didn't have much of a taste so fairly bland which is the opposite of what you expect from a black tonkatsu. The chicken katsu was awesome though. I had never had it before and just loved the sauce and the rice combination. I'd probably ask for extra sauce next time as the rice portion was huge. Another thing I liked about the packaging was you could eat out of their bowls; often, you order ramen to take out and it's all individually packed and you need your own bowl while this one had everything combined in a bowl large enough to accommodate the sauce. Prices were a bit higher than I expected but I think that is due to the area - Brookline seemed to have higher prices in all their stores.
Good service, great food, and definitely would come back! Our waitress was efficient and kind and food was great. We got the edemame, veggie steamed bun, agedashi tofu (lightly battered tofu in broth), and the spicy miso ramen w/o chashu, added egg. The bun and edemame and bun were standard but the ramen and agedashi tofu are definitely worth going back for. The tofu had slightest crisp on the outside, silky inside, and the broth was awesome. Everything about the ramen was perfect. The noodles were just the right level of firmness, the egg the perfect balance of cooked whites/jammy yolk, and the broth just amazing with lots of different layers of spice and savor. The ramen alone is reason to go back and I definitely will!
Excellent! I will be back!!
This is one of the best Ramen places I’ve been to. I ordered Tonkotsu and it was so delicious. Pork was incredibly tender and the broth was very flavorful. Perfect on a cold windy day! The restaurant doesn’t have much seating, but servers were very attentive and the food came fast. Will be my go to ramen spot in Allston/Brookline.
Delicious noodle and ramen, I recommend to check it out. The inside is small for dine in. They have a very good service.
Tried Soup Shack in Brookline and if is a definite go-to if you like Pho, Ramen or Rice Bowls! My soup was delicious; added a little sauce and heat and it was yummy! The ramen dish got excellent reviews as did the rice bowl. Plenty of noodles , Woodear mushrooms, nori, sweet corn and and Menma! All in all , I will return again and I suggest you do as well ! By the way, prices are very reasonable , place is quaint but nice and clean .
Just what you need when your not feeling your best on a cold day. I got the tonkotsu ramen. Always awesome, fast service and way more food than I can eat. I think my meal was about $19 with ramen, bok choy, and drink.
Shoyu broth was incredible, light yet so flavorful. The pork melts in your mouth. Egg was perfectly soft boiled and absorbs the broth flavors so well. I added mushrooms to mine. Also good as takeout/delivery just heat the broth at home and pour into bowl. Consistently good.
