I won’t categorize this restaurant as a spot for romantic dates, but it’s definitely suitable for a place to chill with friends. The servers were busy but they made sure to check with us once in a while. The food was decent, especially good for their appetizers. We got fried tofu, shishito peppers, crab salad, and wasabi octopus (my personal favorite). Highly recommend to order these small bites as starters.

This is my favorite restaurant in Boston. Honestly, my partner and I go just about once a week. Over the last two years, we've tried almost everything on the menu, have gotten to know the staff, and have consumed several gallons of miso soup each. The omakase is everything you need in life. The salmon sashimi improves every bad day, the seafood salad makes your soul sing, and the fried oysters are treats for the taste buds. Any chef worth their salt will know that what you're getting is fresh, high-quality.I don't understand why people waste great fish in sushi rolls, but the ones here are very good. The Osaka roll is good for those who haven't yet converted to the delights of raw seafood. The lunch special is a great deal, too! I will say that the miso soup is best around 6 pm after it's been sitting in the soup pot for a couple of hours. The lunch miso winds up tasting more vegetal, like scallion and seaweed, whereas the dinner miso winds up tasting more like miso paste and bonito flakes. For those looking for imported Japanese beer, look no further! Sapporo on tap, and at $6 a glass, it's a very good price. When you're feeling a little under the weather, the house hot sake is the perfect thing to perk you up. They serve a Mai Tai that's a little sweet for my taste, but she sure does pack a punch. The staff here is good at their job, but they don't hover. If you need something, you might have to get your server's attention, but you never, ever feel rushed. There is no better sushi, sashimi, or nigiri anywhere in this city. Every time we have guests in Boston, we bring them here. Japanese food enthusiasts agree that the fish is bomb.If you're looking for quality, reasonable rates, and a chill vibe in the middle of the city, Omori Izakaya is your place. I've put off writing a review for this place for so long because I don't want anyone to know about it. But after so many meals and date nights, everyone needs to know that this place is the place to go for comforting Japanese food.I don't want you to know about Omori, but you need to. 10/10 will recommend for the rest of my life.

I really liked Omori Izakaya. I was spoiled and was a stone’s throw from Ittoku Izakaya when it was in the Brighton area. After it moved I was devastated.Omori is a great addition to the Brookline area! Their skewers are better priced than other izakayas and I felt some of them were even better quality or cuts. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I would recommend for some Sapporo, sake, and a few plates of appetizers and skewers.

A very cozy spot that reminds me of izakaya in Tokyo. The chefs omakase for two seems to be popular here, and it didn’t disappoint. Very reasonable prices.

Food: 4/5We started with the shishitos, which were subpar, the vegetable spring rolls, which were very good, and edamame. We got a spicy tuna, spicy salmon, dragon maki, and omori Kaigan rolls. Would get all but the omori kaigan again.Service: 3/5Very slow as they focus on takeout orders. Had to ask several times to get more water, etc.

One of few authentic Japanese restaurants in Boston - according to a Japanese food fanatic. Decent wait time from ordering to serving.

Good food reasonable prices pretty inside

Really impressed with the quality and quantity. The sushi was so fresh and well prepared. The drinks were also generously poured. We will definitely be going back soon!

First time here and had high hopes since a lot of people gave it 4-5 stars. First off, service was lacking but that's due to the staff shortage. Very consistent with filling our water so that was a plus. We got a bunch of skewers to try - chicken skin, bacon wrapped scallops, chicken hearts, chicken gizzard, pork belly and chicken wings. All were just ok. Not the best I've had but given it's one of the only izakaya places in the area, it's decent. The sushi were pretty fresh. Grilled squid was a big portion and cooked well. Hotatekayaki did not come out hot (as it should be). Taste wise was decent.I do recommend making reservations as the place does get packed

I would never come back again. The kabobs was cold and barely warm when it came out. The hamachi kama and the chicken was not even fully cooked, to top that off they recooked the same piece and gave us it back. Service was kind of slow. They let a kid that was sitting next to us, run around the restaurant, stomp on the floor, kick the seat nonstop and the restaurant manager or waitresses didn’t even say anything. Lastly, one of our orders didn’t come out but they charged us for it. When we told the waitress about it she was hesitant to give us a refund and we had to tell her we took pictures of our food. She immediately took my phone without asking and said she will show her boss. What if I didn’t take pictures? Was I not going to get my refund? Very ridiculous. I will never come back.
