I arrived at the cafe with the dog I had, and only asked to buy coffee - I was surprised to find that they did not let me in because of the dog I had.I explained to the store owner that I was only interested in buying to go outside and suggested that I wait outside with the dog even while the coffee was being prepared - but he reluctantly refused.I then explained to him that it was a service dog (which I really do not like to say when everyone hears) and only then was the store owner convinced and gave the feeling that I was lying to him (even though there are official approvals). Then I just felt like everyone was looking at me and the unpleasantness just came out. It's really unpleasant to go through such an experience, I really refrain from saying that my dog is a service dog so I suggested in the first place that I wait outside for the entire purchase. The owner was really not nice.

This place is great. I almost gave it 4 stars because the prices are so high. It's worth the quality though, so I cannot deny it the full 5. They do a fantastic espresso. They will also make an iced oatmilk latte for the non purists. I'm glad Fixe is still around, I appreciate the dedication to a fine Cafe experience.

Despite the very good coffee, we will not be returning to Cafe Fixe.On our first visit, we were turned off by the attitude of the barista, who we assume to be the owner or manager. Although there is certainly valuable discussion to be had regarding an "appropriate" way to enjoy a given food or drink, he was condescending both as we ordered and as he gave us our drinks. Again, there is nothing wrong with respecting the product and the craft of espresso, but the barista seemed to operate under the presumption that we, the customers, were ignorant. He was pretentious to the point of being unwelcoming.Even worse was our second visit, during which he criticized my wife's order and, when she responded that it was how she wanted it, made a snide remark about being happy to collect the upcharge for her request. After this, the girl working the register--who seemed to be new or currently in training--accidentally charged us 50 cents too much. No big deal. However, the barista openly scolded her, saying "why would you do that?" and condescendingly remaking that she needed to "focus on one thing at a time," as though this simple error meant she was incapable of working the registerWe were on the fence about returning when the barista was rude to us, but the way he spoke to his employee was disgusting.I would caution anyone against patronizing such a place and such a person. There's a lot of good coffee in the greater Boston area roasted and brewed by people you can feel good about supporting.

Good coffee, but the barista was incredibly rude and condescending. Not just to me and to the other customers, but he was also horrible to the girl working the register. We won't be going back.

Easily one of my favorites in greater Boston. They serve excellent coffee, have a good focus on drink quality, excellent service with knowledgeable staff, and a good atmosphere. Everything I look for in a good cafe! Also, bring cash ?

Cappuccino is actually served in the proper vessel! Smaller coffee cup than a latte, larger than an espresso. Tastes even better than it looks. Cute small coffee shop.

One of the best cups of coffee in the boston area. Definitely worth a stop by Cafe Fixe. Even the batch brew is perfect and fresh (something you can’t say for most shops).

I live a few doors down... the owner is a arrogant and condescending toward his patrons. News flash: there are plenty of other better coffee shops that are welcoming and kind to paying customers, so why support one that's not? Too many stories of him being rude for me. I'm out.

Cafe Fixe is a gem. Delicious coffee, great pastries, perfectly brewed coffee every time. The line can be long, but that is only because every cup is treated as work of art!

I come and ask if they have dark coffee, the Very condescending barista told me “we are specifically coffee shop we do offer coffee”. I bought the cup of coffee to discover That they serve 3rd generation coffee, which Is very lighted roasted and as far away from dark coffee as possible. I was not able to drink it.It will be useful if he actually knew about different roast levels.
