When we lived in the area we used to come every once in a while. It was a restaurant that even our picky eater liked; in fact, it was his favorite restaurant. When we were back in town recently we made sure to stop by. Due to COVID there was no table service, so we took our food to go. The food was as yummy as we remembered it. The rest of the family here wants to give extra stars… We love Bess’s.

Instead of taking the time to read this review, you could already be on your way to delicious dumplings, buns, scallion pancakes, and noodle soup.

Excellent food great service. Shrimp dumplings and the wraps are my go to. Highly recommend.

So so good. I got the scallion pancakes and meat dumplings. I am addicted now and cannot wait to go again!Went again add ordered Won Ton soup along with the above! Phenomenal! You are now my go to place! Thank you and stay safe!

We have been going here for years. We have a daughter with a severe nut allergy who loves Asian Food. They are nut-free and the Dan Dan Noodles taste like they have peanuts like most other versions else where. We were thrilled with the place until an incident that happened during our most recently and unfortunately last visit. When we about to order ( About $100 worth of food) my husband came running in needing to use the restroom ASAP. He has terminal prostate cancer and some times experiences incontinence if he can't make it quick enough to a restroom. He has used that bathroom many times so did not see the sign that said, "employees only" as the door was wide open. After he closed the door the owner started screaming I need to get him out of there so he doesn't spread Omicron. I told him he has terminal CA and he needs the bathroom and I can't open a locked door and remove him. He then said We should stay home if we are sick. What? He has CA not COVID. We tried to explain the risks of COVID being in the medical field ourselves but this guy was very misinformed and rude. He then refused to serve us. I am hoping they don't remove this review because I think it is important for the public to factor in the dining environment as well as the food. The lady Bess? is actually always very nice. If you are looking for nut-free decent food and luck out and get the lady you should be fine.

We are long time customers of Bess's as there is a nut allergy in the family. We went in to place a large take out order. I have a urinary cancer and needed to use the bathroom. The door was open. I did not see the small employee only sign. When I came out I heard yelling. The counter person was yelling at my wife because I used the bathroom.I apologized and said I have cancer and needed to go. He said I should have stayed home. He then refused to place our order.I told him we were long time customers. He kept telling. We told him we will never come back.We then proceeded to drive over to Dumpling Daughter in Brookline and placed an order without incident

On Sunday 1/9/21 I went to Bess's Cafe in Brookline with my family. We have been going there for over 4 years. It is nut free and there is a nut allergy in the family. My wife and daughter started ordering a large take-out order. I have a urinary cancer and I needed to use the bathroom. The bathroom door was wide open held by a trash can. When I came out the owner was yelling employee only sign as the door was open my wife due my using the bathroom. I did not see the employee only sign as the door was open. I apologized and told the owner I had cancer (I never use the cancer card). He told us he would not serve us. I told him how we had been coming there for years. I told him we would never come back. We then proceeded to Dumpling Daughter in Brookline which is also nut free. We placed a large takeout order and used the bathroom without incident. This is a repost as I believe my original post has been pulled. I believe Bess’s Cafe food is also overpriced and overrated.

Mamahuhu - meaning average. OK, but very very salty. Pork and leak dumplings were average, soup was way too salty and not very flavor-full. Beef scallion wrap was just OK. I doubt I will go back. Wanted to like it, but mediocre.

We love this place! Such lovely people and the food is reasonable and to die for! The Dan Dan noodles and Crispy Chicken wraps are our go to dishes. Real comfort food and just tasty as heck!

This spot is worth visiting. They serve large portions for reasonable prices. Constantly clean and with good mood. Will visit here again.
