Food is surprisingly good! If you are dining, get the mushrooms and beet hummus. For drinks, get the tea service. Ambience is incredibly gramworthy.
Last week during graduation week, after a long hectic reception, decided to try our luck at Yvonne's - having visited their website andread the reviews, and thus knowing full well that they were likely to be fully booked.. As we entered, the gentleman at the entrance immediately asked us if we had a reservation. At the same time, a waitress came up to take a couple to their table, and said to the gentleman "just say no".. For some reason, the guy asked for our ID's, so we showed him our ID's... he then proceeded to tell us that they had no tables and that next time, we needed to bring our passports, as our IDs were not acceptable. I informed him that we were not comfortable galivanting around town with our passports, and he just shrugged. This is our 4th visit to Boston, our son has lived here for the past 3 years (on and off), we have NEVER had to show our passports, and very rarely have we been asked to show our ID's (and if we have, it has been done very politely, unlike in this incident). Message to the management: if you want your patrons to carry their passports, please put that right up front on our website. Sorry, we will not be visiting your restaurant.
I have tried several times to book there but it was always full. I have tried to postpone my reservation but I have been told if I arrive late I will lose my table and but I can sit at the lounge. We rushed and arrived on time and guess what, the restaurant was quite has several empty tables the entire evening. Surprising!!! The vibe is great, with a well decorated room. The Food is slightly above average, I have to say. It seems very appealing on the menu but the tasting is a bit disppointing.
This really is quite a ‘place’. On arrival our table wasn’t ready so we decided to wait at the bar and to our concern there were 2 packed ones so how would they find us to tell us our tables were ready? We were both quite tense and seeing the throngs of people it did not put us at ease but…. They came and found us and were very efficient in taking us to table with quick service from waiting staff. We ordered 5 small plates for the 2 of us, all of which were truly delicious and memorable. As they came separately we could really savour each one. We then had room for desserts which were equally wonderful. Would come back in a heartbeat.
You can never go wrong with the crispy tater cubes - the crunch & flavor are on point. Also, I always go for the chicken & quinoa meatballs & enjoy them. ?In my previous visit I tried the seared halloumi for the first time & I also thought they were decent. If you’ve been to Yvonne’s you already know the ambiance is great. If you haven’t, that’s a good enough reason to go. ?
I'm looking at some of the other not so good reviews, 1 & 2 stars and I'm only giving 2 stars because the food was good. Not great but good. This was my first time there. We dropped our friend off (who is 73 and it was her birthday) we didn't want her walking too far while we found parking. We got there 10 minutes after her. Our reservation was for 5:00 p.m. She was told before being seated at the table that we had to be out by 7:30 p.m. Really? Not only rude, but it was this woman's birthday. And we actually did leave at 7:20 p.m. and the place was definitely not full. Our server was sub-par. When the 2 of us met our friend at the table we waited about 10 minutes to even get a water, and not even asked if we wanted any cocktails. The settings on the table were dirty (2 glasses) and took awhile for the waiter to come back. We finally got our drinks, and really? Small martini glasses and then only 1/2 full (picture attached). As I stated food was good, but very expensive for size of everything. And at the end, one of my friends then had to go ask the waiter for our dessert because he never came back. I will never go back again.
We are racing the Boston marathon this week and had a dinner with friends in advance. The atmosphere is upscale and really nice. We had a big round table which made communicating with our friends a bit harder. It’s shared dining but not all dishes are created for sharing. I didn’t like the hot tuna, we had to fish for some small pieces. The pinsas are good. We didn’t like the staff, they threw the food on the table without explaining what we received. So improvements are welcome there. The best dish was the baked Alaska desert, good size and nice taste. I don’t think we will come back but for one time it’s a nice place to come and visit.
Gorgeous burlesque bar and restaurant with a twist. The bookcase has a hidden door leading to a speakeasy like private venue with its own bar and dinner tables. The food is really nice and the service great.
Really liked the ambiance. I tried gobi Manchuria, similar dish with chicken instead that was good in taste. Deserts were good! I tried the macron ice cream but the macron was really hard, taste was good. Just if macron was in a smaller size would have come out better. Drinks I tried the tea pot, but i felt the quantity was very less according to the price! Overall it was a good experience.
I would give myself a couple of hours to really take in the beauty of this property, the beautiful chandeliers, great food and drinks. Our waiter was very knowledgeable did the recommendations. We had steak for two, the incredible meatballs and octopus. We enjoyed the recommendations of cocktails, a great date place, or a Friday or Saturday evening out. Highly recommended.
