The donuts looked so good when we (my husband and I) walked up to the counter. We ended up ordering the sea salt bourbon and boston cream donuts. Once we sat to try the donuts, we were surprised that the flavors did not match the look. For both donuts the flavors were so subtle that they didn't stand out in any remarkable way. Also, the Boston Creme donut was way more donut than filling - making the ratio off. I can't say that I would recommend or go out of your way... at least for these flavors.
The little public market that this donut shop is in was one of our favorite places to visit during our short stay in Boston. Well, we had to get a Boston Cream donut in Boston, right? The server rightly recommended extra napkins since he knew what happens when you bite in -- he was right. Our donut was fresh and delicious. We're glad we stopped here.
Boston is supposedly the birthplace of fried yeast donuts, and Union Square is considered among the best in the city. We walked about a mile to get to them, and they were, indeed, tasty. Lots of interesting flavors, lots of oil, not a cheap donut.
Definitely get here earlier than we did...at around noon they were mostly sold out. Most donuts are yeast...very few cake and of course those were sold out. Fun variety of flavors...although the Vietnamese coffee donut had very little coffee flavor. But, the Atomic coffee served here is delicious! I got an iced Espresso to go...very satisfying on a hot day.
Do not pass up this donut spot! It was worth waiting in the blazing heat for their donuts AND their coffee, both of which were delicious and the perfect start to our day =]
Tried a few flavors, Belgian dark chocolate, salted caramel whiskey and donut holes. If you like cake donuts this is the place for you. Otherwise it's a big doughy mess, real dense and lackluster in flavor. I prefer mine light and fluffy. Good luck!

This review is on the donute I tried and not necessarily on the establishment. The maple glaze with bacon was not good to me. Very strange flavor and poor after taste. I did enjoy the carrot cake and while it is sweet (from the glaze) it is very good.. I need to be fair in this review. The maple glaze with bacon would rank a 1 star and the carrot cake a 4. I saw other donutes that looked amazing.
Stale......can't really say anything else. We grabbed four doughnuts, on a Sunday, to bring home and try. Every one of them were yesterday's doughnuts. For the money charged I would absolutely expect better quality control. The taste was off and was secondary to the stale nature of this pastry. . Underwhelming experience and not sure what the occasional lines of people waiting for these donuts are for. Very dissatisfied and disappointing
If you are in need of a sugar rush, look no further. These donuts are delicious and massive. We tried the Boston cream pie, mint chocolate chip, and a plain donut with sprinkles. They are a little more dense than your typical donut but it works well with the sweetness of the toppings.
