Such a disappointment. This used to b be a standard “go to” place for any stay in Boston. No more. I brought my parents hoping to share some of the places we enjoyed but when I asked about the old menu, specifically the page of history found on the back, the waitress said “it might be on the website if you scan the code.” 1- not everyone uses a QR code 2- it was for the drinks and 3- the history wasn’t there anyways. I feel when you have a historical place in a location known for history, you should know that history. The menu had a disappointing four items to choose from. When we asked what black and white pudding was, she didn’t really know. Overall, a big disappointment and no longer on our “must go” list

We were looking for somewhere near or hotel to eat dinner, so why not an Irish pub, right? We arrived on a Friday evening and were lucky to get one of the last tables available. There was a Celtics championship game coming on that night, so many of the patrons could have been there for that. We enjoyed our reuben sandwich and shepherd's pie (comfort food) and also enjoyed a Guinness, Smithwick's (can't find that at pubs near us), Magner's cider, and a County Meath spiked coffee drink. The staff was very friendly and we inquired about the live music (they said they have it every night). We never made it back for live music but I bet it would be a blast.

First time here and from out of town, we asked to be seated in the bar for a drink and quick bite to eat. No one waited on us. We counted 14 servers and not one of them came over to ask us if we wanted a beer. Finally, many, many minutes later one of the bar keeps walked by and said you have to order from the bar. Recommend the hostess mention to those sitting in bar area to order at the bar rather than wait patiently for service at your table. Three stars because the bar looks amazing, and the pretzel was very good, though expensive.

ARRRG,I was going to give it 5 stars, we went in for a quick beer and bite before our whale watch and our server was AWESOME! THE FOOD was GREAT and the beer was ice cold. The vibe was cool so we planned to go back later that evening. Our server said to keep our receipt because with it we could get back in with no cover, Here's where it got rocky. I don't mind the server maybe being wrong about that (was she? Why would she lie?) But it was moreover the way we were told that it was "false information" and that "I was making that up". I have no reason to lie and surely can pay any cover I feel like, but talking down to me and my wife and calling us liars is simply uncalled for and truly disheartening after we had such a great experience initially. Truth be told we avoided the place after that all weekend. I didn't want to knock the place because of a few douchebags at the door)

This place has energy, that is for certain. I was a little apprehensive to take my 8 year old son here, but this place is surprisingly kid friendly. They have a kids menu that is great, and my son still tries to order what he got on that menu at other restaurants. I am pretty sure the food is good. But honestly every time I go, I just get so captivated by the “green energy” so-to-speak, that I don’t really pay attention. From my experience, this isn’t really a place to have a quiet conversation, it’s pretty loud. But it’s loud and fun, and that’s what we were looking for. This last time was everything I hoped it would be for my son and I. It made him extraordinarily proud and excited to be Irish-American, and that made me really happy.

Holy fecking heck was this place amazing. We hit Boston one afternoon for aimless wandering and around lunch time and decided to try an interesting place. I'm always down for a good Irish pub, so we decided to give The Black Rose a try. Oh. My. Gawd. Did not disappoint. We sat outside on the sidewalk since it was a gorgeous day. Our server was absolutely amazing. She checked with the bartender to see if they'd make an Irish Coffee with cold brew (yessssssss) and was super nice. We ordered a Ruben, bangers and mash, and a burger with caramelized onions. Every single bite was a freaking food orgasm. The bangers and mash was something dreams are made of. Do not pass this place by.

The Black Rose is a Boston institution and a great place to visit for locals and tourists alike. I'm ashamed to admit that despite my 15+ years of living in the Boston area, that this was my first time visiting. The good and drinks are fantastic, though, and this place lives up to the hype. There's a reason why this pub has been around for so long. The atmosphere is noisy, so if you're looking for a quiet place to eat, this isn't your scene. The sausage rolls were good, but compared to the Irish Spring roll, they paled in comparison. The Irish Chicken was well-seasoned and moist, and the bangers and mash were delightful.

The food is good, but the music is VERY loud. Service depends on where you are seated. They have just added sidewalk seating which would be preferable.

Went here for lunch with the family. Daughter had fish n chips. She said it was to die for. Girlfriend had cob salad and said it was delicious. I had a bowl of clam chowder. The chowder was thick and flavorful. There was a hint of bacon flavor. Overall an easy 5 star review!!

Great food and great service! Authentic feel of an Irish pub. Would definitely go again! Also, great beer and ale selection including Magner’s Irish Cider on tap.
