Came for some night vibes and food. Service was good and the food was decent. I think I just have a slight issue in terms of value. $6 dollar baos are just abit too extreme for me. Nevertheless flavors are there but expectations are set high based on pricing.Shojo pig Bao and bulgogi Bao both had great balance. Pickled veggies, umami sauces, and meat were cooked perfectly.Shojo burger with egg was a slight disappointment. It's abit messy to eat and had me question why it went into a Bao rather than a traditional burger bun. If the Bao bun was bigger, I think it would offer a better vehicle for the burger. The mushroom truffle noodles were nice. Flavors are rich and fresh. One note was that the noodles were inconsistent in the cook. Some were perfect and meanwhile other areas were nearly uncooked. Just a simple stir while boiling would fix this issue.I've always been a bit hesitant with asian fusions considering I'm abit of a food purist but I think they hit it on the head with most of the dishes.
I went here on a Friday night after a long drive into Boston. I ordered takeout through UberEats because this place had nice variety of dishes with a modern twist. I am docking one star because it took so long for them to get my takeout order ready and the packaging was full of plastic, seemingly no consideration for trash generated. Admittedly it was a Friday night and the weather was good, but if they were too slammed to do takeout orders they should just not make it available. I am docking a second star because the food had really nice and unique flavors but a bit over salted to the point where it bordered on the salt-level of fast-food.
My husband and I went out on Saturday night and wanted to check this place out for the first time. We didn’t have a reservation and the hostess sat us down in no time at the bar which we did not mind. She was very sweet and we thought she forgot about us at first as it was super busy when we came in. Our bartender, Morgan, was very friendly, attentive, and made our experience super great. The food and drinks were delicious. The bulgoki bao was AMAZING. Definitely coming back again.
THOSE WINGS AT @shojoboston ? thoo ? Chinatown, BostonHighlights: wutang ribs + sweet and sour wings. You really can never go wrong with ribs and chicken wings at any modern style Asian restaurantDrinks were bomb, got the bai Bai mule, Muay Thai and mai Thai. Muay Thai comes with a super cute panada glass.Other things that were just meh include the charred greens and mazemen. Mazemen was too soft and not enough flavorTopped it off with a lemongrass coconut pannacotta, their only dessert.I'd say all in all, come for cocktails at their happy hour and order a few bites
Mmm their ribs are so good! The bao tacos were really tasty too! The plates are definitely on the small side, so it’s fun to order multiple and share. It’s got a bit of a funky vibe which is fun. Definitely not your traditional place in Chinatown.
What a fun place! Came here for a friend's birthday and loved it. The service was quick, and ambience was perfect. The food was very tasty if you like Asian fusion and pub food. The bartender was also quite talented! Would recommend visiting!
The best service I have ever experienced. Food was delicious and tasteful.
took my parents here and they were not disappointed. service was very fast and the food was amazing. the tiger style ribs and the mushroom mazemen were my favorites!
Shojo was an amazing experience. Our party of six were having a hard time finding a table. Shojo came through as soon as a table became available. Our server was the kindest server I have ever had! He was attentive to our needs and made our experience memorable. Food was fabulous and it was wonderful to be able to catch up with family/friends I haven’t seen in a long time. I highly recommend.
Great atmosphere at this unique gastro pub. Menu is broad with some Asian fusion dishes and other pub style dishes. The Wu-Tang style tiger ribs, beef bao specialty, marzan mushroom noodles and bajo fish tacos were all delicious. Some unique imported beers available in cans & bottles as well.
