There are two towers for accommodations, both are tired, one marginally less than the other. This hotel is a massive inner-city facility connected to the prudential mall offering a number of substantial food options, a USPO and fedex. Rooms are tired, and do not feel properly cleaned. Room attendants converse loudly in the hallways; in fact, all hallway noises travel into rooms. The hotel can address the employees but if there is a function or families with children running amok in the hallways ... be prepared to be that old guy that yells at them to shut the hell up! Maybe in their next upgrade they can add a sound buffer to all room doors. The air-con struggles at times and the units themselves are filthy. The small bathrooms are awfully inconvenient. The door swings inwards, you cannot access the tub/shower without closing door. The door swings inches from your knee while on the throne. They could benefit from sliding doors in the next remodel if too cheap to add space to the bathroom. Vanity is oversized and wastes space with one sink. Many of the showers 'sing and shudder loudly'. The toilet is like those public lavs where they should just remove the lid so you can flush the lever with your foot. The bed is comfortable, I've always had clean sheets. If you get a chair in your room, either desk or single sofa, they are not clean - cover them with a towel before sitting in. Some rooms face a brick wall - great for wandering around in your undies. But they do have lovely large windowsill where you can sit and ponder the world outside. The window blinds allow light in around the edges, so the room can never be completely darkened for rest during daylight hours. The cafe in the lobby is a mix of mediocre service and food. Not capable of meeting busy times. But they make a decent espresso/latte etc. I think they try, but there are some odd dynamics amongst the staffing. The lobby restaurant is so-so for food and service, they could do so much better for patrons with their menu and service for hotel guests. The location in downtown Boston is key. I just wish they would up their game with a more congenial service team, or maybe the current is just the Boston way? I have had some really solid positive interactions with some of the employees here, but others have failed, either inexperienced or too busy. I believe that comes down to human resource management and training. It's not an awful hotel. It's okay in a pinch. There are many other hotels close by, the Sheraton REALLY needs to consider beginning sensible upgrades ... proper USB ports - not the ‘maybe-maybe not’ USB ports glued to the bedside table. I want to give it a better review based on the few employees who have reached above and beyond, alas, the hotel needs some serious upgrades on many levels. And why are one of the Tripadvisor questions below asking if anyone offered to speak Chinese!??
We are a family of 4 here for vacation. Location location is great. The rooms were a little dusty. The beds were comfortable. The cleaning staff was very nice. They served starbucks coffee in the room. The room was slightly outdated but for the most part clean. The elevator was fast. The little market downstairs in the lobby was expensive but that is expected. The quick breakfast food did not taste good at all (breakfast burrito). I like that it is connected to the mall so you can shop if you want. Overall, we have a wonderful stay. Our room view was decent we were on the 24 floor. I would stay here again if we come back to Boston.
Took our 11 yr old granddaughter on a Boston adventure and stayed at this hotel! Our concierage, Amy, was extremely helpful!! She got us same day Fenway tickets, other tour tickets and made excellent suggestions!! She even checked us into the hotel and got us an excellent corner room!!! My granddaughter loved our time at your hotel while seeing Boston!!!! Thanks, Amy!!
We had reservations for 2 rooms. Around 1pm we tried to check in early but they were announcing (yelling to everyone in the line) in the lobby that anyone there for early check-in were too late and to come back at 4pm (there was a Red Sox game that day). At 4 we came back and were only able to check in one room. They said the other would be ready around 5:30. We ended up all going into one room (7 of us) and waiting it out. Rooms were small. Toilets were weird public handles (you use your foot to flush). Shower curtains were old and rusty looking on bottom. Needed to be removed and new ones put in. Rug was VERY dirty. If you walked barefoot or white socks you had BLACK feet after a few walks back and forth. Small fridge in room. We had 4 people in our room but only had 3 big towels and 1 roll of toilet paper was provided (and we had 7 ppl for the first few hours because the second room wasn't complete). pool was dirty and tasted salty (but was nice being an indoor/outdoor pool). locked the door to the garage at 11 pm so you had to unlock it or go outside. starbucks in the lobby doesn't take starbucks cards. they did have a small gift shop for drinks, deodorant, etc so that was a plus. Not terrible hotel -- okay at best -- and if it's all that's available book it -- but if you can go to a different one then do it (and don't pick the Marriott as your alternative -- same owners and they were a disappointment to our friends who stayed there. Same types of problems. over booked, dirty, etc).
This hotel is not 4 star, not 3, not even 2 probably. This is a rundown motel. The only thing they have is location - everything else is terrible. Room not ready - downgrade to queen bed after I reserved a king bed. Waited forever for service of any kind. No USB ports for charging. Floors gross and sticky - had to put towels down. Decor and furniture run down and gross. What a nightmare of a hotel. The place needs to be demolished and rebuilt. Sheraton hotels should be ashamed of themselves. Never again staying here. I’ve stayed at many 4 and 5 star hotels internationally and this doesn’t even come close to standard.
Stayed here for two nights as long time Bonvoy member. I never expect anything special. Front desk was rude repeatedly. Room with two queen beds had the smallest bathroom I have ever seen in a hotel. My 17 year old son opened the door and said “oh my gif that’s so Small!”. Could not sit in toilet and open or close door. No hand soap given. Only garbage can was in bathroom. Ordered breakfast room service. It came in bags! Teas included! One of the meals feel Out and all over the floor because they were stuffed so high with food, order messed up. Food terrible. Waste of $100! Valet took forever to get car, even after calling from room 20 minutes earlier for it. Never given welcome bonus, as promised. Very disappointed! Won’t stay there again. Neither should you!
I don’t normally leave reviews but I wanted to as in my opinion, the 4/5 tripadvisor doesn’t reflect the current standard of the hotel and I felt mislead. The only real positive of this hotel is that it is very central to Boston with easy access to places like the Prudential Center and Copley Square. Also a short walk to Fenway. The check in staff and bell captain were nice and polite. This hotel is in dire need of a renovation. It is a very large hotel (1200+ rooms). We stayed in a double room in the North Tower, 9th floor. There was a musty smell to the room, and the carpet/walls looked discoloured with wear and age. The toilet had leftover feces from the previous guest, and there was leftover dried skin/soap in the bathtub. When I called to ask this to be cleaned, housekeeping did apologise and come to rectify it promptly….but surely it should have been cleaned beforehand? In addition the walls are incredibly thin; we heard every toilet flush in the vicinity as well as many conversations. We paid 375 usd per night. For that amount of money I will look to stay elsewhere when I’m next in Boston. Sorry Sheraton but you really let me down this time.
Stayed here for two nights in July. I like that it is connected to the Prudential Center and it is easy to walk to Newbury Street, Copley Plaza, the Prudential T stop, and Back Bay station (though this can be tiring with bags). Restaurants and shopping very close by. Star Market, CVS are close for necessities. Beds are too high and my room was smaller than expected. Room didn’t seem to have been updated in a long time. The indoor pool is large, but also felt very dated. Good Back Bay location but the whole property could use an update! Prices for this hotel can get really high, due to the conferences held next door, but those high room prices are waaaaay too much for this property!
Stayed here for business. Exceptionally clean room. Pool and tanning area on the third floor. Didn’t really get any perks for elite Marriott members. Good proximity to downtown and all the overpriced eating establishments. Attached to a two block mall so don’t need to leave the AC. Not worth $270 a night
Collectively, this hotel offers a good location for easy access to restaurants and for spectacular running trails along Charles river. The hotel itself is a bit date, but offers spacious rooms with good views on higher floors.
