highly recommended. good beer selection and very good pub food. nice place to go before a game or show. service was excellent

We arrived in Boston ( unbeknownst to us) on the night of the Bruins last home game of the season and were staying near the Garden so every restaurant was mad busy. It was also incredibly cold/windy so by the time we dashed into Porter's we were shivering and hungry and exhausted. The place was full of Bruins fans but the front door staff told us it'd only be about a 20 minute wait. Good! After putting our name in the host heard me tell my husband I'd love a cup of hot tea. He immediately offered to brew ne a cup! Such a sweet and kind man! While we waited and drank tea we chatted with the front doorman. He was kind and fun to talk with as he helped others also running in to get some food and warmth. As promised our table opened up after about 20 mins. We had the steak tips (DELICIOUS!) and my husband who has Celiac had an amazing pizza on a gluten-free crust. Our server was a sweetheart as was everyone even though they were crazy busy. The host stopped by to make sure all was well and chat for a second. Not sure which we found more appealing, the overall feeling of welcome and kindness or our dinner but both were 5+ stars!

Great food, friendly service, even right before a Celtics game. Crowded but never felt unwelcome.

I’d first like to start off with the positives! We received amazing service from a very friendly staff and the atmosphere was great. We ordered drinks, Buffalo wings, and tried to order the Belgian fries because they sound amazing. The drinks were excellent, but unfortunately the wings were a miss and we unintentionally ordered just a side of fries. I asked our server if these were the Belgian fries, and our server said he would get them. Once we received the fries, they were identical to the side of fries with a side of three dips. The menu said they would be twice fried crispy shoestrings and they certainly didn’t live up to that description. Before we left we saw some burgers that looked amazing, so it’s very possible we just didn’t order the best of the menu. I would say overall the drinks and service were very good, but the food left a lot to be desired.

Great food and drink! We've been there for lunch and it was not very crowded. They were understaffed, but they made sure we receive a great service. Fish & chips, burger are great options. Don't forget to try their IPA.

Went before a show at the garden to get dinner and drinks before. Place was moderately busy but not crazy once we got there. I never like to dock stars on service alone (especially with a worker shortage at the moment) but the attitude of every employee we came across was totally unacceptable and uncalled for. We had 2 disabled/ visually impaired people in our party and when they forgot one of their drinks, all I got was a sigh and an eye roll. Same thing when our food came… they just threw random food on the table as it was a different person then took our order and after we had watched her try to give it to 3 other tables. Then the bill came and one of them asked to split it (which I understand we should’ve asked before hand) and she immediately started yelling at us so we nicely said it’s our fault and not a big deal and said we’d just use 1 card. She came back with the check and was still annoyed that we paid with only one card even though she berated us for implying we’d do the opposite. I haven’t tipped under 20% since the pandemic because I know this industry has been hit hard but this was completely uncalled for and it wasn’t even that busy/ early enough that they’d already all be in a bad mood. We ended up leaving early and going to the show early and paying for drinks inside the garden cause we felt so unwanted here. The apps were great and burgers were good. That being said I’d go back if it weren’t for the service. We have another show this week that was rescheduled from last year and were going to meet the same group of friends here but will be changing that plan.

This is a great classic pub - only one of its kind near the Garden. Great food (especially burgers) and awesome selection of beers and drinks. Lots of options for Scotch lovers. I use it as a go-to place to meet up with friends in the city, especially before an event or game. Not many places that have laid back vibe and good food. Can’t recommend enough!

I've been coming to Porters for years. Great food, great atmosphere... especially before a concert or game at the garden! Love the Cubano sandwich and burger! The staff is excellent and have been there a long time. The place is also super clean and friendly!

Luv it I always come here when I come to Boston. I've been coming here for years until I retired back in 2017. The bartenders are great and I miss everybody. I live in NH now.
