We were introduced to this places while on a food tour (North End Little Italy Food Tour with Bobby). The smells outside lure you in and the guys working could not be more friendly. They were very knowledgeable and had Great conversation. A fun place with a lot of history. Be sure to stop and get your coffee here! They also have a wide variety of spices
Polcari's has about 50 types of coffee beans. If needed they will grind the beans for any type of coffee maker - french press, drip, percolator, etc. The prices are very good and the beans are excellent. The owner and staff are incredibly friendly and always helpful. We visit the store at least once a month. Never disappointed.
Great little local coffee shop. Family run business for several decades, with super friendly people and an excellent selection of coffee.
It’s the most beautiful coffee shop in the US. Like a vintage coffee shop. I enjoyed most. Small but pretty cute. They have traditional Italian lemonade things. And the owner-employee was so kind. So luck to stopped by there.
One can feel the weight of history in this establishment by walking inside. It's like you jumped back in time. I got a shot of espresso which was delicious. There is a great variety of coffee beans (Sumatra and kona caught my eye).
Bobby, the owner, is down to Earth, easy to talk to, and very enthusiastic. What does this have to do with coffee? Frankly, I think the experience that he creates in his store actually makes the product taste better. That might just be psychological, but I don't care! The only drawback is that you have to go to Salem Street in the North End to get it. He should teach a class on how to run a truly independent business.
Operating from 1932. Bought some Uganda coffee. Italian seasonings all reasonably pticed. Great people behind the counter. Very friendly and they can give insider tips on good places to eat.
I went in for the coffee - came out with a bag, but also the best Earl Grey I’ve yet found (apparently from a Chicago supplier). Lovely friendly staff.
Stepping into this place is like traveling into different demention. Great selection of coffees, old fashion scales, packing and displaying of items that are not used anywhere else.... everything here takes you back in time. Helpful, friendly service makes shopping experience here very pleasant.
I imagine not much has changed at Polcari coffee in almost the 100 years its been around, probably outside of taking most electronic payments at least. But then again why change what works? If you need a good variety of fresh coffees or spices, along with a large selection of Italian imports then Polcari has you covered. Not to mention a friendly staff helps to make it a bit of an institution in the North End.
