It is not open every day, so make sure you look it up before you go. It is underneath Modern Pastry and most people do not even know it is there. Very cool place with friendly bartenders and owner. Being downstairs it gets very loud down there, so I would say more of a younger person’s crowd. We did go twice though.....and the pastries looked way better than Mike’s.
Modern Pastry deserves far more attention than it gets. The style is old but maintained, reminisce of local bakeries from many years ago. This place is flowing with historical charm. The canolis are second-to-none. Get it chocolate dipped for an extra touch that will blow your mind.
Went downstairs with a small group of friends to enjoy dessert and drinks. We sat there for 20 minutes until a very rude waitress came over to inform us that we were not allowed to sit at the table unless we were ordering drinks or food. We informed the waitress that we had been waiting to order drinks to which she replied “you need to order at the bar we figured everyone knew” and then she left us sitting there. Did not offer us food or menus.. did not apologize for the misunderstanding (considering we had not been before and there were no signs indicating that drinks could only be ordered at the bar). Safe to say we not be returning.
A great, secret spot in the north end for delicious espresso martinis and perfectly crispy fries! But the best part is the hospitality!
Was waiting in a very long line at Mikes, when a bouncer nearby said Modern was better. We took him up on it and left our line to try Modern’s Cannolis and they were so delicious! Loved it
I wish I could say it sucked to keep the masses away but I can't. This place is amazing, from the awesome bartenders to the great food and drinks. I promise you won't be disappointed.
Great service. I’d say that there’s limited options on the food but you can’t really complain. I can sure tell you that you’ll visit Modern much more as and when you discover Underground. Solid way to attract attention and still have some sort of special / exclusive feel to the place.Their banana bread martini is on point! The prices are relatively better at not burning a hole in your pocket. Great job guys!
