There isn't a option to dine in. It's all done outside. I'm going to start off with it is soul food but the flavors aren't there. I assume they make the food in large batches which dries out the food and or messes with the flavor of it ultimately. I got-Fried chicken (good, bland, nothing special)Garlic mashed potatoes (dry, bland)Mac and cheese (probably the best food they offer, dry, just cheese and a little seasoning with the macaroni pasta)Collard greens (salty, otherwise it was decent)Gravy (salty)Corn bread ( we enjoyed the cornbread a bit dry)The total came up to 98 dollars. Did I think the this diner for what we got was worth the 98 dollars? No.The food is over hyped and that's what u are paying for.
I had the pork chops, which were pretty tasty. The peas and rice were bland and nasty. The green beans were the worst. Worsts soul food I ever tasted in my life. The desert look like throw up. Waisted money and time.
The Covid restrictions are ridiculous. The world has opened back up. I had to download an app, purchase thru an app, all while someone was standing in front of me and could’ve just taken my order. I’m all for supporting black businesses but I don’t have time to be doing all that and neither do other people. I’ll just go to YAS chicken also black owned where I can just walk in and make an order and leave in a timely fashion
The food without a doubt is delicious!! I would've went with a five star. My husband steak tips - $23.99 for steak tips, Mac and cheese was a portion for a toddler, they placed one tablespoon of rice and beans and 6 bite size steak tips!! For $23!! My haddock portion was okay for $16 but the steak tips. My husband took three forks of the Mac&cheese and was done. Disappointed with the charge and portion. Box of pasta is not that expensive. And they are buying it wholesale. Total rip off..
I had an overall positive experience with this restaurant. I love sampling soul food establishments when visiting different cities. I chose Maxine’s because online in said there was an option to dine in. When I arrived, it was only a store front. I had to download an app in order to order and pay for my food. I was disappointed by these things. However my food was good. I had fried catfish, greens, Mac and cheese, with a corn bread muffin. The fish was fresh and moist. That was the best part. It was delicious. It seemed like a cross between cornmeal batter and beer batter. The sides were not spectacular but they were good. I could have gotten this same meal about $5 cheaper back home in Kansas City with bigger portions but overall I was satisfied.

SO GOOD. I love the baked haddock - it’s got the crispy crumbs on top with so much flavor and fresh fish. LAYERS of flavor in the fish, Mac n cheese, and garlic strings beans ? the catfish po boy too ?I couldn’t finish all of it, although I tried, and saved the smallest portion for leftovers and I’m so glad I did. A delicious snack plus the cornbread muffin that comes with ??
I ordered food from them less than an hour ago. I ordered Banana pudding with my ordered i did not get it.i called customer support they said i can get a refund, redelivery or credits added to my door dash account. I chose a redelivery.. They placed the order for banana pudding again. My ordered got canceled. This is ridiculous. how do you run out of things smh. i will not order from here again.
Fried chicken wings are awesome...food was very good and service was good too.
I've been wanting to try this place for a while so today I stopped in well I thought I was about to stop in lol.. but when I approach the door there was a sign telling me that I needed to order through the app so me being a brainy person that I am I'm like oh well let me call and order NOPE line was disconnected smh.. but honestly after reading the reviews within the app I'm satisfied that I didn't get to place an order.. the one star is because it really shouldn't be this hard to order food
