Such a wonderful and busy little restaurant in the heart of Southend! The food was absolutely amazing! The service friendly, attentive and totally spot on. The wine selection was surprisingly good as well (admittedly I have never really had Greek wine). I was brought over by friends in the neighborhood.. one of their fav spots, and now it's one of mine! I can't wait to come back!
Worth the wait! Delicious food and the area is so cute, loved the outdoor seating.
It’s an excellent Greek Restaurant! The food was amazing! You just have to make reservations in the morning of the same day you want to dine there. But you will not be disappointed!
Kava is the most authentic Greek food I’ve ever had in the US. After visiting Greece a few years ago, I’ve craved the same food here. This restaurant is the only one I’ve ever found that had true Greek food.Every dish was absolutely delicious. We had a selection of appetizers to get a full range of food. The dessert, the baklava, was amazing. This restaurant is really tiny and reservations are mandatory pretty much. We had great service and were offered a shot of mastika, something I’ve never tried before. The restaurant is lively and intimate. If I lived in Boston, I would come here all the time.
Cute and intimate Greek meze spot. I'm half Greek and grew up on lots of Greek food -- was really happy with how authentic the dishes and flavors here were. We got the octopus, tzatziki, keftedes, and moussaka, although honestly everything that was coming out around us looked amazing too. Loved the wine (also greek) we tried as well.
Fantastic spot for Greek tapas. Love the atmosphere and vibe. Bartender was excellent in recommending wines (Greek!) to pair up with various dishes. Super friendly and looking forward to coming back soon!
We ordered 5 dishes and everything was excellent. Service was good as well! The reason for 3 stars is that the indoor dining room was practically empty and they were seating folks right next to each other with barely any space between the tables! If the place was full, I would understand, but with so many empty tables, it wasn't cool. Also, when we requested a different table away, they weren't pleased and wanted the table back in an hour because it was 'reserved'.. Then they sat sometime right next to us and that table was also complaining about the same thing - 'empty dining room and you practically sat us on someone else's table'! Mixed feelings.. I may or may not return.
We love the atmosphere of this little taverna and are happy to come back any time for drinks. Alas, this review is for its food, which we found somewhat mediocre at its price point. We ordered the baked beets, the zucchini chips, the sea bass, and baklava. Starting at the top, the zucchini chips were delicious, the sea bass was well done though nothing special, the baklava overtaken by syrup-sweetness, and the beets would have been a feast for garlic lovers but ended up left over amongst us. Overall, we found the menu a bit too much hit and miss.
Keep in mind that I went here on Valentine's Day, which is a tough day for restaurants:Overall good food. Certainly the best Greek food I have ever had in Boston. I had the gigantes, the yogurt with honey and fruit, the moussaka, fried zucchini, and a few other dishes. The moussaka was the best I've ever had. I don't even usually like moussaka and this was amazing. The fried zucchini was very well fried, but as they cooled, had a little bit of an off taste that I usually associate with using inferior quality oil. The gigantes were well seasoned but needed to be softer and needed more tomato. The yogurt with fruit and honey was good, however it wasn't really Greek yogurt, it was labne, which is good, but a little overwhelming. All the other dishes were good. Overall, I would say 4.5 stars. But if you really want the best food from the Middle East and Mediterranean region, I still think Oleana is the top.
The food was delicious, but I thought it was a bit overpriced for what it is and the portion sizes. The place is tiny with way too many tables super close together and it was hard to have a conversation and that kind of ruined the vibe for me. Unfortunately the service also wasn't great - our appetizer came after the entrees and our server mixed up our main order even though she was really nice otherwise. My experience was 50/50, not sure I'd come back.
