The street style BBQ was very nostalgic since it’s pretty rare to find places for such dishes in Boston. Otherwise, the regular stirred fried dishes was so-so, e.g. Kong pao chicken, spicy potato slices, and egg plants. I recommend to focus on the restaurant’s speciality of BBQed selections including the lotus roots, lamb kebabs, and mushrooms. Average per person spending was around $50. Not a very cheap place to visit. Definitely in it for the experience.
I have been going to this place since it’s soft opening, the food has been good, authentic, which reminds me of home. I wouldn’t say it’s cheap because good quality restaurants and service are not suppose to be, especially considering how expensive the real estate has become in Allston. The price is rather reasonable. They recently opened for take out options too which it’s good if you wanna grab something and share with your friends at home. I can see this place is getting busier and busier so maybe call for reservations if you wanted to go during the weekends. By the way, I know they have the egg and tomato soup on the menu but to all my local friends, pls try something else, ?everything is good on the menu ???
Other than way overpriced skewers and poor service, our friend had diarrhea two times!! Owner has an unpleasant, confrontational and disordered personality. We all want a better restaurant to open here.
This restaurant hotpot is my favorite one, l will come back again ! ???also you can choose other Chinese BBQ delicious!
BBQ was terrible, but it name themselves a BBQ restaurant! The only one good dish in the entire restaurant but it's totally not worth the cost of $78 a pot with side dish(extra cost). Have to mention the wait staff service...the manager was hanging out with his FRIEDS and ignore us for calling the wait staff and enjoying his COMPANY and the wait staff obviously has no work training at all seems to have no clue of what they doing and we have to get up and get our own utensils. Very unpleasant dinner experience!
Food is ok but it’s quite overpriced. They charge $7.99 for just 2 small skewers. What’s worse the service is so bad. We waited for nearly 20 minutes and no one even shows up and serve the water. And after 1.5 hrs we are still waiting for the some food we ordered at the very beginning. In addition, the waiter put a very hot plate just in front of my 2 year old without realizing the consequence of that. Such a horrible horrible place. Would never come again
Exterior and tables look new, but a friend of mine had explosive diarrhea after having a couple spicy skewers. Would not recommend unless you are a master of your own intestine.
Great service and delicious food! Will definitely come back.
Passable skewers. Smaller portions compared to Mala and the other places down the street. Flavors were good but still don’t compare to the other places plus it’s slightly more expensive.
The good:Waitress was very friendly. Lamb skewers were good. Sichuan style cold noodle was on point. The bad:The pan fry shredded potatoes was very bland, and they should also put more effort to cut the potatoes (see pic). The stir fried cabbage did not taste very fresh. As for the skewers, the chicken wings were dry, like very dry. Idk what happened there. You can get better tasting pan fry shredded potatoes and stir fried cabbage at places like: Xiang’s Hunan Kitchen, or Xiang Yu China Bistro. For better BBQ skewers, try Friendship BBQ in Allston.Overall thoughts:If not for the nice waitress, and the clean environment I would have given this place a 1 star. Please try to do better, I don’t want to see any business fail, especially in the Allston area.
