Thankful this bakery exists! I developed food allergies to the top 9 allergens as an adult. Needless to say, it is difficult to eat out, and impossible to find baked goods. Jenny Lee’s Bakery has been life-changing for me (not to be dramatic, lol). Try finding baked goods without eggs.. I went without baked goods (and a birthday cake) for years before finding this place. Jenny made my birthday cake last year and it was so special, as I was unable to have a cake for a few years before that. I have tried many of their menu items, and everything has been delicious. I want to try one of everything they offer! My favorite items are the pretzels, bagels, chipwiches, cannolis, and gingerbread cookies. I hope to try their new sandwiches soon as well as more of their savory options! I have done a mixture of walk-in, pick-up, and delivery and it is nice that they offer many options. They also have great customer service. For example, I made a mistake on a Christmas order and for some reason the incorrect order was submitted but Jenny made my whole order as I had intended it to be and delivered it to my house on Christmas Eve, with just a day’s notice. I really appreciated this as I would not have had dinner sides otherwise. I definitely recommend ordering their side dishes for holiday events - you will not be disappointed! Delicious mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, etc. - they do it all! My only complaint is I wish that I lived closer to their locations lol, but it is well worth the drive! It is a special occasion each time I get food from here. It is also good because if I lived closer I would gain a lot of weight due to how delicious everything is :) I usually don’t share what I buy with others because it is a special treat for me, but on the rare occasion that I do, others without allergies have said everything is delicious as well!
1000% yes!! The low reviews surprise me. The baked goods were GREAT, and the woman working the stand was so friendly. Being GF, DF, SF, NF, etc is exhausting and I feel so safe buying food from here!
My partner and I are both vegan, but she is also gluten-free, so we were both excited to find this place during our weekend in Boston. It was in the Boston Market, though it didn’t seem to note that anywhere online, which it probably should since the produce stands outside almost hid the entrance Google Maps took us to.Anyway, the woman working the shop all by herself was incredibly pleasant and sweet. We got four cupcakes, two doughnuts, two cake bars, a banana foster dish, and a buffalo calzone to-go. It came to about $57, which was average if not cheaper than what we were used to, let alone from a place so allergen-friendly AND vegan at the same time.We didn’t try anything until we got home more than four hours later, and everything was STILL delicious. I was very surprised with how moist the cupcakes and how soft the doughnuts were—things I seldom find in gluten-free treats. The icings were unique (watermelon? French toast? Cotton candy?) and very sweet, but if you don’t like sweet things then you probably don’t like cupcakes to begin with.We haven’t finished everything yet, but we’re so pleased with this place. Thanks for being there, Jennifer Lee, and for making inclusive vegan food while donating to animal sanctuaries, as well as paying your employees a living wage (we were told $25 an hour!). Your character is demonstrated through your business.
I left the airport and drove downtown just to buy gluten-free baked goods for a week's stay in Maine. I parked about 6 blocks away and walked through the farmers' market to a corner booth that felt more like a food court than an upscale gourmet bakery. I never had anything vegan before trying Jennifer Lee's. I am so glad that I don't have to eat vegan. The blondies were bland, nothing like the gooey butterscotch brownie a blondie should be. The brownies had a faint taste of chocolate but mostly tasted like sweet pasty. The donuts were very chewy and sweet, kind of like eating a can of sweet play dough. I didn't blink, buying $70 worth of bakery items, but I am feeling sad because I just threw away about $40 of what I bought.
My family had a fantastic experience here. The food was great, but even more important to us was the ability to safely buy bakery food as a family with multiple allergies (and one not a common allergen). Thank you so much for this inclusive experience!
I was so excited about visiting this bakery because half of our family of 8 have a number of food allergies that make safe treats hard to come by normally. The chipwiches we tried were dry and tasteless and the icing was overly sweet, and to top it off, they were extremely overpriced. So disappointing!
Got a cookies and cream cupcake and the taste was great! I did come in the afternoon though, so it was a bit stale. Happy that I was able to eat anything I wanted with my allergies though!
For Christmas I bought a small box of cupcakes/cookies for my friend who is vegan. There’s not many places that have good vegan pastries and such and I wanted her to enjoy a dessert with us non vegans. She loved them!! I can’t wait to come back and get more for her :) I also got to try them and as a non vegan I also think they are delicious.
Unbelievably good pastries!! The fact that it’s 100% natural and allergen free is amazing and proves with a little preparation and love, you can make delicious food for EVERYONE!!! Thank you Jenny Lee!!!
This place is SO GOOD. They’re vegan, allergy friendly, and donate to charity! I don’t like very sweet desserts so I didn’t get one here as they didn’t look appetizing to me, but the sandwiches are BOMB AF. I would highly highly recommend this place for any hungry vegan wandering around downtown.
