Absolutely the worst waitress staff ive ever come across in my 40 years of being alive. Not exaggerating one bit but Absolutely the worst and the thing is they dont care because boston is busy and people will eat there because they have availability. They have availability because of the poor service, the food, price of food and the quality of the food. The cleanliness of the place was horrid and did i mention our waitress was the worst. Thats why seats are available and busy at other places. Do yourself a favor and wait in line somewhere else. We had just about every race in our group and the waitress managed to treat our African friend the worse whom was actually the sweetest person in our group who didnt need to be treated like that. They prey on groups 6 people and higher as they automatically tip for the group. So if your 6 people or more they will tip for you and you will not see or get any help from the waitress as your going to tip automatically and they have no need to go above and beyond and or even be a basic decent human being. And your going to tip large amount automatically for that rancid service if you like it or not. Ive seen some bad wait staff before but not like this. Id recommend going somewhere else. Overall the worst place ive sat down and ate and im honestly appalled of the way they treat people and the quality of the food. Humanity is definitely going downhill way to fast if you ask me. So you have a dirty disorganized place of business whom has rude, unprofessional and racist staff and the most over charged unappetizing food. How is this even a open place of business? We were 6 people (2 of which were kids under 5) I myself half thai and half french, my brother the same. His wife is chinese and my wife is Ghanaian (west african) and our 2 kids. Only highlighted this because i do understand everyone calling everyone racist these days for no reason but our case was in fact shotty service with racial tendencies and we all noticed the even more attitude and disrespectfulness towards the Ghanaian (my beautiful wife) we do not go around calling people racist but we will call you out on it. we were there 4-23-22 the bill was $174.56. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere nicer with compassionate people. The worst waitress ive ever met and im more disappointed then mad.
A friend and I had went to this restaurant after a walk around the greater Boston area. Upon entering the restaurant we were sat down and barely talked to other then to order. The food was alright but the service was terrible.When it came time to pay I tipped two dollars as I didn’t think the service was great. The waitress tried to use our language barrier to get me to pay her more money. Towards the end she told us to leave when I wouldn’t budge. Terrible experience.
I basically received the worst service of my life.Lady was extremely rude, no hi no smile no nothing. This is my conversation with her :- Hi how are you doing ?- ORDER ?- eh.... could we take a look at the menu first?Then she just leaves after throwing the menu on the table. Comes back 2 min later : ORDER ?- I have some questions about the dumplings.- *straight face no answer at all*- Are the veggie dumplings available fried too ?- no. pork. ORDER ?Then, as we are finishing eating me and my friend (she never came back to ask if everything was good or even to give us a water refill) she just passes by with the vaccum cleaning while screaming at us with a mad face "CLOSED".Well, that's the rudest way to ask customers to leave for the close I've ever witnessed.Then comes the payment time where she just comes back with one bill without even asking if we were done or if we needed 1 or 2 bill.I put a certain amount of tip according to the mediocre service we had and then she looks at the paper and proceeds to scream "18% TIP". I then tell her that it is to the customer to decide the amount, she goes again "NO, TIP 18%"Who the hell obliges customers a tip ? Let alone 18%?It's really sad that a restaurant's experience is destroyed by the service like the one we had, but the consequence is that we will never ever go back there and I will advice all my friends (who all loves Asian foods) to never go there. Congrats.
We had great tasting lunch, dumplings and soups (the like minst meat soup was great!). Unlike many Chinatown restaurants, this place did not have huge queue, people running around, eating in shared cramped tables. Instead this place had great food and nice atmosphere.
I came here because I saw the good balance quality-price according with the reviews but what I found was low quality food and a stressed waiter who almost shout us to pay the tip, which legally is not mandatory to leave actually. We were not satisfied with the service so it's up to us to decide not to leave any tip. Finally we left it but I'll make sure not come back anymore here.
Great tasting food served fast with good sized portions but customer service needs to be better. I know it's an Asian restaurant in Chinatown but just pointing at the receipt while not speaking English is just ignorant. Other than that, I would recommend this place.
Good good. Tons of options- as many have said, good for Americans who don’t want to be too risky but also some real eclectic Chinese dishes like duck intestines and duck blood. We enjoyed ourselves. Service was ok not great.
Even though Gourmet China House has good food, the hostess alone has lost me as a customer forever! First time was in summer 2021. I asked to make sure that there were a specific number of utensils in the takeout order, and the hostess was dismissive and dishonest. I appealed to a waitress, and she confirmed that there was not enough of my requested utensils. Second time was last night, I ordered takeout from the same hostess 30 minutes before closing so it was not busy. Left and came back after 10 minutes. Saw a bag on the counter but thought it was too soon to be mine. Stood in front of the hostess holding my receipt for another 15 minutes. A waitress finally acknowledged my presence, checked, and that bag was in fact my order! The worst customer service and the worst hostess!
The hostess alone has ruined an overall good rating of the restaurant. 2x she showed the worst customer service, and I will never be a customer again.
I had the spicy beef cilantro. Never had so much fresh cilantro with beef before and it was both different and delicious. I thought it was pricey, but worth it.
