Best udon i had in a while. The snow crab was a favor i never had before but wanted to try. I was not let down, both the broth and the snow crab was delicious.
I've been wanting to try this place for a while and glad I did! My overall impression was that the portion sizes are huge and the noodles are a bit overcooked, but the flavors and ingredients are good.I got the snow crab egg hot udon. The toppings were plentiful and tasty and the soup was thick but light in flavor. The noodles were too soft for my tastes and I think there was a bit too much ginger on top -- I sorely regretted mixing it all into the soup as it ruined the soup flavor for me. Definitely enjoyed the crab, egg, and seaweed in this soup.We also had the sukiyaki udon -- plentiful toppings, slightly sweet broth, noodles a bit overcooked. The chicken tatsuta-age was pretty good but I probably wouldn't get it again. In summary, the noodles are overcooked -- too soft with no bounce -- but the flavors are good and the toppings are plentiful and tasty. If I came back, I would probably share one bowl between 2 people because the portion sizes are massive. I would be a proponent of cheaper bowls with less food...
Tried the Uni Cream and Sukiyaki. The Sukiyaki Udon was pretty good. The broth was on the sweeter side; felt like there’s more mirin and sugar than soy sauce. If you like sweet sukiyaki broth you’ll like it. There was plenty of meat, which was really good! The Uni Cream though wasn’t my favorite. It was too milky and all I tasted was milk... I normally love Uni but the Uni had a fishy aftertaste.
Any specialty udon
The borough is good but not quite the same yume. The beef broth is slightly saltier compared to yume, but has more beef. The fried baby octopus portions were extremely small, but good. Takoyaki is a miss. Definitely worth a try here, but slightly over rated for what you get. Decent, but not an amazingly good place.
I felt like I was treated as germs when the employees handed over the menu. It felt like I was swimming in the oil because the fries were soggy. It's a dish that's not satisfactory for the price.
One of the best Udon noodles I've ever had. We ordered cheese niku curry and pork kimchi udon. Cheese niku curry was recommended by the server and was really delicious. There was a wait for about 15 minutes to get in but the service was very good. I am definitely going back here to try other dishes.
Their in house made udon was fantastic. Soup was very good and boiling hot when it came out. Very homey feeling inside. Pleased to say they had options for vegetarians and vegans as well. Only thing is the line and waits can be very long so get your name on that waitlist 30-45 mins ahead of time!
Pros: lightning fast service and a lot of variety for a small-ish menu. Prices are fair and portions are pretty large!Cons: It is SO COLD in here. Seriously- the overhead fans are so strong, and if I wasn’t already eating a cold dish, I’m sure it would’ve cooled down anything I was eating immediately. The fried chicken curry udon is definitely a highlight. I couldn’t fully enjoy the cold mentaiko udon because it was freezing inside, but also the broth was too watery/milky for my tastes.
Had the spicy dan dan noodles. It was out quick, hot, and delish. This place is small and fills up quick. Service was great. I'm going back ASAP
