Food was good. Place seemed disorganized and stressful. Cocktails were disappointing. I probably wouldn't come back here.
Not the Chart House experience that Iâm accustomed at 10 others over the past 40 years. Had reservations and opted to wait (we were told) 10 minutes for outdoor seating. After 45 minutes, we gave up and took an indoor table. Preferred outdoor due to member of party hard of hearing and it was more noisier inside. Service good. The Employees had their hands full and persevered. Caesar salad limp as if it was sitting out for a while and bowl was warm. Wine glasses also felt like the just came out of dishwater- warmer than warm. Entrees, dessert good. Will still recommend the Chart House based on overall reputation, and giving them the benefit of the doubt being a Friday night and Boston restaurant week (which their special menu was a very good value).
I was excited to try out Chart House but unfortunately it did not meet my expectations. We had a reservation for 4, but there was no table available yet when we arrived with many customers waiting and we were asked to wait at the bar - which is fine with me. It took quite a bit until the bar tender took our drink order, and the bar was not properly cleaned. The drinks were disappointing, seemed they were very sparing with alcohol. It then took again a while and multiple follow-ups until we were seated. Overall the staff (reception & bar) appeared to be very unorganized and overwhelmed. The situation did not really improve and the interaction with our waiter was a bit odd, lacking professionalism. We had to wait long between the different courses. The food was ok, but nothing special. It would have been a really bad experience if we would not have been in such a great company. I recognize that the situation might have been exaggerated due to restaurant week. However, I would recommend to not take more reservations than you can actually handle. I look at restaurant week as an opportunity to check out places, so an experience like this is definitely not beneficial and will not encourage customers to come back.
My grandsonâs 13th birthday trip!
The staff was not welcoming at all. We opened the door and the hostess almost slammed the door into us, no acknowledgment. At the host stand there was about 4-5 employee standing there did not acknowledge again when we indicated we were here with a reservation for lunch. The server was less than thrilled. He seemed rushed. I ordered a CUP he proceeded to charge a BOWL for Dinner. I ordered shrimp scampi he proceeded with coconut crunch. Each time he came to the table prior to ordering food he continued to ask what our entree was. We were not happy at all.
Great history, mediocre food, good service and good and would recommend kim chee calamari and mock cocktail.
The clam chowder was fishy and the lobster was salted. Service is nothing special.
The service was excellent! Food was great. Will be back
Service and food were very disappointing. Have had great dinner experience but this lunch visit was not up to Chart House standards. I am taking into account the staffing issues that restaurants are facing. Fish sandwich was not edible and steak in salad was dry and tasteless.
My family and I visited Boston from Louisiana. Coming from a culture of great cuisine, we were extremely impressed with the food at Charter House. The location of the restaurant also adds to the value of the restaurant. You canât beat eating great food on the wharf overlooking the harbor.
