We chose this place for breakfast based on the great reviews and happily it was just across the street from our hotel! We could not have been more pleased with our choice! The appearance of the cafe is traditional but the menu is contemporary American . Plenty of veggie, vegan and meat options for all. I had the veggie omelette with a decent portion of sourdough toast and my husband had the breakfast tacos. It was all excellent: fresh and hearty! All washed down by a very large and strong cappuccino.

I just love these places with a history and attitude. We stayed at the staypineapple hotel and this was the closest cafe. We ate breakfast here every morning. Fast service! The western omelette was one of the best I ever had. The salmon bagel was also fabulous! If you want a top notch fancy place, don’t go here. If you want character and a lot of locals, good breakfast come here! ?

This little place was just down the street from our hotel so we gave it a try and were happy we did! This is not a chain, not trying to impress you with high end decor or menus. It is comfortable, friendly and the food is great. We had breakfast sandwiches and coffee- huge cups of coffee! Jimmy at the counter was friendly and outgoing. We sat in a booth, enjoyed the sandwiches and the coffee!

We had a lovely breakfast at the most loveliest Cafe. The owner (I assume) was so friendly and personable. I had the best banana & strawberry smoothie and smoked salmon toast. Highly recommended

True neighborhood favorite , menu items provide something for everyone ... very well priced ! Thank You Berkley Perk ! Providing ALWAYS a pleasant beginning of each day !!

good super good?????My first time and I will go again✨

We were all quite surprised how this place can have the rating it does... it was 3 of us going for afternoon coffee, chosen because of the high rating, and we all thought the fixtures were tattered, the place could use a good clean-up, and the service was surly, no smile at all and quite abrupt.

Super cozy, great food/coffee, chill music play list and the folks there are very friendly and kind. My secret hideaway during the work week. 6/5, would gladly sip mochas and read a book there again.

I'm writing as a frequent local patron who's been coming to the Berkeley Perk Cafe for some years and bringing visitors from out-of-town. Not a Starbucks. Definitely not a Dunkin’. No wifi. The Berkeley Perks Café is a cozy neighborhood snack bar offering omelettes for breakfast, sandwiches and bowls for lunch and after, and “coffee and” or tea for whenever you come by. Berkeley Perks is small, with an ambience that allows you to relax while you enjoy your meal. The décor is traditional wainscotting for the walls with paintings and photos by local artists above, booths for eating with others and/or for spreading out some papers, “hi-top” stools for eating by yourself or with a friend, easy chairs for enjoying your coffee with the newspapers, and café tables by the window to watch the passers-by pass by. Berkeley Street is one of the main streets between the South End and the Back Bay. Berkeley Perks is two doors down from the Staypineapple Hotel and almost across the street from the stylishly designed Revolution Hotel; it’s a couple of blocks from the Loews Boston, in the old repurposed Boston Police Headquarters. In addition to standard sandwiches available on a variety of breads or wraps, Berkeley Perks offers a changing selection of imaginative sandwiches and bowls like the Mexican Street Bowl. (“Imaginative” does NOT mean “weird,” but rather combinations you might not have tried before, such as grilled chicken breast with avocado.) Most of the patrons are regulars, so we have a choice of “same old, same old” or something we haven’t tried before. Jimmy (usually) at the counter will chat a bit while making your coffee which comes from a regional New England roaster; beverages include bottles of New England “tonics” (soft drinks) like black cherry, sarsaparilla, crème soda. Prices are modest. Normal hours are 7-4:30 Monday-Saturday, and credit cards are accepted. The dining area is accessible, but the entry to the rest room is too narrow for wheelchair access. As a historical note, although today reminders remain only in the facades of buildings, in the 19th century the Berkeley Street area was one of the hearts of theosophical, religious, and spiritualist activity in New England.
