We brought our son here for his birthday dinner - made a reservation and when i talked with the hostess on the phone she assured me that his dessert would have a candle and she would write that on the reservation. Restaurant is nice, music is at a nice level to allow conversation. We ordered the crab dip on recommendation of the waitress (Theresa) and it came with a fresh loaf of yummy bread. I ordered the Bolognese and it was very bland. I had a few bites and stopped - not worth the calories. Husband had the bacon wrapped meatloaf with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. Meat and potatoes were generous portion and delicious but he said the brussel sprouts were disappointing. Son had a steak that was really good with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Again, generous portions and he really liked it. For dessert, we ordered limoncello cake which was delicious and the mint chip ice cream sandwich. Most of the ice cream sandwich was good but there was a section of it where the ice cream was gummy and weird. Oh, and when our desserts came, there was no candle or anything for my son which was frustrating and disappointing. I would go back to this restaurant and try something else on the menu.
Just wanted to give our waiter a shout-out. He was incredible. Although I have forgotten his name, I will never forget how he managed all of us crazy women. He had a great sense of humor and never complained. Thanks to him, we had a wonderful evening. Outstanding client service! We also enjoyed the restaurant's fresh atmosphere, and the food was delicious.
Smokers on the outside deck, literally smoking near the sign that said no-smoking. Waitstaff and owner walked past them many times and said nothing. Three other couples on the deck and we weren‘t the only ones disappointed. Food wasn‘t great: saturated with dressings and undercooked. We won‘t be back.
New to Westminster and Maggie's was recommended. Checked out the menu on-line and thought we'd try the Filet. Went at 6:00pm to give them an hour to get ready - they weren't. Ordered the brussel sprouts appetizer, it was ok the first bite, them was very rubbery and very sweet. Added to many flavors . Then I ordered a wedge salad. Thought it strange when the waitress ask if I was sure, as it was "like a half a head of lettuce". Wedge - should not be half a head - but it was. Rather that a fresh cut, wedge of lettuce with blue cheese dressing, crumbles, cherry tomatoes and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar, it was a very large loose pile of not fresh lettuce, some was brown, with a pile of pickled onions on top of it. Very disappointing. We saw another table being served a nice loaf of what looked like fresh baked bread. I asked the guy who brought the salad about it (since we had not been offered bread). He said he'd check. He came back and said we could only get the bread, if we ordered the crab dip with it - really? Then our waitress came back around and I ask her - she was able to get it. Bread should have been offered when we ordered - or better yet, just brought with the appetizer. The filet, turned into a New York strip, the only steak on the menu. I usually don't order NY Strip - but since were were already there...not sure why the change from the online menu, and why only one steak? The steak was ok, cook properly. We ordered desserts to go, since we were full. I asked for the dessert menu and selected Carrot Cake with creamed butter icing (my favorite). The desserts came in containers in a bag, so I didn't look at them until I got home - about 20 min. I opened the container for the carrot cake and was disappointed to see it sitting in strawberry syrup, caramel syrup, whipped cream (which has melted into milk) blue berries and old, rubbery strawberry slices. Who puts all that on carrot cake!! Ridiculous! Bottom line on Maggie's - they appear to be trying too hard to be something they aren't. Great service, a great menu (with choices) and great execution of that menu will win the day. Stop with all the extra stuff that ruins the food. If it's on your online menu, make sure it's in the kitchen.
Maggie's has live music on Fridays in the lounge. Unfortunately, I went in one Friday. The group was spirited, not particularly good and LOUD. I measured the loudness out of curiosity and it averaged 85dB and peaked at just over 100dB. Much too loud even for safety, much less a pleasant experience, unless you really enjoy ear-splitting entertainment. On the other hand, the food quality was very good. and really to be recommended. Staff was attentive and engaging. Just that music. Sadly, I won't be going back on Fridays and probably will avoid it all together.
Our first visit since Maggie's came under new management and chef and we enjoyed our visit. We had a combination of drinks to include sangria and sauvignon blanc wine. For dinner we had the scallops in bacon and truffle fries as well as the mushroom risotto and all tasted fresh and nice. Service was a little tricky as there was a very large group dining in the main area. Our server Julie did well amongst that chaos and was timely and attentive. We will go back and you should visit!
I have been to Maggie's several times and I love it. The food is great, the service is awesome, and the atmosphere was fantastic. My friend had a birthday party there so we decided to go on our visit that night. It was very busy but they were able to take care of us right away without any problems at all! The staff was friendly, attentive, and accommodating. We will definitely be back for another visit soon!
Just had a great brunch with my wife at Maggies. The Texas Nachos were the bomb with a nice touch adding pickled veggies to the mix. We'll worth the money and our waitress Teresa was outstanding.
The atmosphere is very inviting and the staff in bar makes you feel welcome. Great customers friendly crowd. Excellent parking in downtown Westminster MD. Superb food.
