Expected 5 Stars - Got 3.5We have been hearing wonderful things about Lost Lion since it opened. We went with another couple to experience it.Lots of rules - No reservations, no parties over six people, NO substitutions on anything - even for food allergies. That aside it is a modern industrial atmosphere with a small outdoor dining area which is nice. They have a bar that seats 9 or so which is nice when you are waiting. The place was empty at 7:45 pm on a Wednesday evening. The menu is pretty simple with tacos and sandwiches. The specials are more entrée oriented and three of us had the Red Snapper special which was very good but not over the top "Wow" It was $28.00. The service from Heather was efficient and pleasant. The drinks were good.We expected a warm, inviting atmosphere and staff with food we could rave about. What we got was a cool, collected atmosphere with acceptable service and a bit better than average fare. If I could give them 3.5 stars I would. It was not a 4 or 5 start experience which is what brought us in.
Always a fabulous time when we go here and we never go home hungry! The food is amazing! Well seasoned, fresh, always something new and fun on the menu. I think I've worked my way through all the possible tacos and I am pretty sure we have tried every dessert they've made, but the tiramisu is my favorite. The staff is super friendly and wants to make sure you have the best dining experience! We are so lucky to have this little gem of a restaurant here in Westminster!
If I could leave 0 stars I would! We went for the first time, my mother, two kids and myself tonight. I understand not all places have a children’s menu which is fine we thought we could find something for them on the menu. When the server came over we began to place our order I said my daughter will have the fried shrimp but please put the cole slaw on the side and not on top of the shrimp because I know she won’t eat that. The server said sorry no adjustments to the menu….I thought he was joking I laughed and said what about this chicken sandwich, can he get that without lettuce? The answer again was NO! We asked for the manager I figured she’d help us out. She not only wasn’t helpful but she was so rude! She cut me off and said if you would have read the message at the bottom pointed her finger at me then on my menu, you’d see there’s one item you can have your way- the cheeseburger. The reason for all of this insanity- “ the chef with over 20 years experience knows what tastes good together and will not deviate from that” are you kidding me?????? What kind of narcissistic person do have behind the line?’ Someone better tell him he’s in Westminster MD, nothing special about your menu and get over yourself! Customer Service does not exist at the Lost Lion- they truly are LOST!
What a gem! Great tasting food at reasonable prices. Jalapeño burger was delicious. Fries are well made and seasoned. My two year old devoured their meatballs. Service was impressively fast. We’ll definitely be back!
Food is excellent, drink selections cover a lot of ground and the service is exceptional. Family-owned business that gives back to charity. Opens at 4pm and no reservations accepted. The bar is rarely full so there is a backup if the tables are full. Give it a try and let me know what you think.
We stopped in here on the recommendation of a family member. It’s been a long time since we visited the area, so we figured we would give it a try, and to our surprise the Lost Lion is a diamond in the rough! WOW, what an amazing experience and the food is exceptional. It’s situated behind a retail complex on Main St in downtown Westminster, so don’t rely on your GPS to get you there. The entrance is on the back of the building, but their signage made it easy to locate. There is ample parking directly adjacent to the restaurant, which is nice because on-street parking in Westminster can be an issue at times. The best way to describe the Lost Lion is “cozy”. It’s a quaint space with outdoor seating for warm weather months, which we definitely look forward to this summer. The menu is very eclectic and not what we expected. The appetizer portions are very generous, so plan accordingly when ordering. We had the Meatballs, Scooby Snacks, Grilled Cheese Popper and oysters. Apparently, the menu changes based on the season so be prepared for specials throughout the year. The meatballs are the size of a lacrosse ball and very filling, and the Grilled Cheese Popper was a meal in itself. Our entrees were tuna tacos, grilled chicken arugula salad, and burgers. All of them were amazing and worth every penny. One thing to note – the meals are prepared “as is”, so there are no substitutions or special orders. Normally, I tend to shy away from establishments like this, but the chef here knows what he is doing because all the meals were prepared to perfection. The most impressive thing about the Lost Lion was the selection of bourbon they offered. If you are a bourbon drinker, you will find one of the best selections of bourbon in the area. I have been to four and five star restaurants that didn’t have the selection the Lost Lion offered. I was shocked at the diversity of brands they stocked, so if you like bourbon, you are going to love this place! The service in smaller establishments is always an issue, but the staff at the Lost Lion was the best I’ve experienced in a long time. Every beverage was refreshed regularly, food orders were prepared in a timely manner and the table was cleared after each course. There isn’t much more you can ask for from a staff and you can tell they are very experienced in the hospitality industry. More importantly, everyone was so friendly!!!Apparently, this location has gained a large following recently, so call ahead for reservations. Make sure to put this on your “Hit List”, it’s well worth it.
Went to dinner last night and was anticipating good things due to the reviews but what was disappointed. I asked to have ranch dressing to be omitted but I was told they wouldn’t and will not deviate from the menu. I can understand if I asked for you to completely change the menu items but it’s just holding the sauce. it wasn’t wing it was a burger with special sauce And a bbq chicken flatbread with ranch dressing. So on two orders we were told you couldn’t hold the sauce
We have dined here a number of times and I like it more each time we do. Food is excellent, great bourbon selection, and the service is outstanding. If you have not been, and you like food that is not run of the mill, you must go. We are fortunate to have another outstanding restaurant in downtown Westminster.
We stop by for a delicious brunch with JR Maley Engineering team. The food was great. Thank you!
Long standing place to grab some of the best food in Westminster. Everytime we go every seat is filled, which goes to show how loved it is here
