Chicken pho was good but the beef pho tasted off. Also there were flies everywhere

When visited UMD for my son, we are looking for a Vietnamese Restaurant to have a easy dinner. Silver Spring is not too far to College Park, even there are many Vietnamese Restaurant on CP, but most them are for student-take out or fast food style. We have very good time and satisficed meal on this restaurant. Have Pho, appetize (spring roll ) and rice dish. Good enough volume, very tasty grill port chop and relax environment. Free parking on plaza. The only complained is only 1 service on the front desk. Even not at weekend, still a lot of sit-in customer and take-out order. One person is just not enough to manage all. I am not sure is because short employee or not because weekend so less workers.
Probably the first pho place that I’ve been to where I didn’t look up any reviews prior, but I was not disappointed. The place was dead at lunch time, but the pho was solid. Only issue was the fact that there are flies EVERYWHERE. I thought it was just a few lingering around me because I had food at my table, but when you take a look at the walls, they’re covered in flies. I recommend getting take out rather than dining in.
Ordered Chicken Bahn Mi & Fresh Shrimp Rolls. It wad not very good. The Shrimp roll traditionally comes with a piece of pork and cilantro or Basil, these were simply shrimp and vermacilli in rice wrapper. The Bahn Mi didnt have cilantro, diakon pickle, onion and pate as advertised on their menu. Their pictures on Google and their website are not accirate to what I received.
The first time we ordered from here it was amazing, i was impressed it was so good. Second time was completely opposite. Both times we ordered through uber eats but the second time, the noodles were hard/crunchy, no matter how long i let them sit or microwaved, never got soft, it was weird. The broth was off, i knew something was weird when i poured it. There wasnt enough broth to fill past the noodles. I asked for extra extra limes, we received no limes at all. Forgot the lemonade as well. Mine had 3 pieces of chicken. That was enough to make it the last time ordering.
I waited 9 minutes to be asked what I wanted. The guy was somewhere in the back. I yelled yellow. Knocked once for door to kitchen nothing. Used my phone to tap on clear part of door kitchen. An elderly man told me to wait and went to get other employee. No apologies after I told him Id been waiting for over 5 minutes. Called 3 times while inside to see if the came to assist phone. Nothing.
Never impressed with east coast Pho coming from Seattle. But the food hear was top notch and I will be eating here several times before heading home.Wish I could give 6 stars!
Very , very good pho soup! Clean establishment and and friendly staff! You must try!! I like to stop here whenever I'm in the area!
