The restaurant is a traditional style dim sum place. For me it was okay. Most things had shrimp, and I'm not a big shrimp person. The selection on the carts were limited. I recommend the BBQ pork bun & my dining companion recommends the steamed pork ribs with black bean sauce . Worth a try though.
My friend and I went to the restaurant for dim sum around 11:30 am on March 27, 2022. The tables were fairly occupied, but not full. As soon as we were seated, dim sum food cart was presented. As we debate which dishes to pick, suddenly middle-aged waitress appeared and instruct the waitress with food cart not to present ANY food carts to us since we seem to take longer to select the dishes than other customers. Her attitude was very rude and unprofessional manner. Afterwards, no waitress with food cart presented to us, as if they were following this middle-aged waitress’s instruction. I had to wave my hands to get waitress's attention. Later, the same middle-aged waitress returned to our table and explained in apologetic tone that they were busy to serve other customers. By then, our appetites were ruined from the bad experience. I plan not to go back to the restaurant anytime soon.
Gourmet Inspirations is the place to go if you are craving dim sum. they will not disappoint you with food and service. It’s always pack here, but their people are so quick to move lines up.
Sat down for 25min, no water no tea, ordered 3 dim sum, and the dim sum was no good. We heard this place was good but it was not what my family wanted nor expected. We drove 45+ minutes here just to be disappointed by their food and service. I do not recommend.
Try the dim sum for brunch, it's good. For dinner get the Steamed Chicken Marinated w/ Special Ginger Sauce and the Sweet ans sour prok chop, Hong Kong style. Their dinner dishes are all solid too. Don't see the Cantonese-style steak on their menu online but get that if they offer it.
Dim sum was a good experience here for our first time. I thought it would be more festive for Lunar New Year but it was good food and service anyway!
It’s pretty good dim sum place to try out. The beef chow fun is a call. Niuza is great as well. Others are standard.
took my girlfriend for her first dim sum experience on december 23rd around 2pm esttypically when you walk in here for dim sum, the line is out the door and you are waiting 45minsdue to the current covid times, there was no line and the restaurant looked empty, we walked in and thought they were closed but they were notwe were seated in a smaller dining room and a few others were already dining inside, more guests arrived after we were seatedthey were short staffed but mom took care of us herself, tea, chicken feet, shu mai, har gow... all of the usuals with a personal touchwe loved it and can't wait to go back, definitely miss the cart ladies and that whole vibe but this was a more personalized experiencewe gladly left a nice tip to show gratitude and praise for the restaurant, which luckily was still open for dim sum on a weekday during the peak of omicron
Gourmet Inspirations is the real thing. First of all, the restaurant is impeccably clean. Second, the staff is friendly and professional. Thirdly, the food is high quality and delicious. We are very picky about dim sum having lived in Asia fro more than 20 years and are hard to impress when it comes to Chinese food.
I've been doing an informal survey of dim sum. Happy to report that my first visit to Gourmet Inspirations ranks it right up there with Bob's Shanghai 66. Particularly liked the fried stuffed taro dumplings and stuffed eggplant. Shu Mai, tofu skin with oyster sauce, and steamed shrimp dumplings were also extremely good. Looking for excuses to visit that part of Silver Spring agsin.
